Roads & Bridges Laborer - Full Time

GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

Responsible for assisting with the daily operations of street maintenance.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

•    Perform routine street maintenance projects (patching, drainage repair, etc.).

•    Assist with the chip and seal paving project.

•    Assist with snow and ice removal.

•    Assist with leaf removal project.

•    Assist with tree trimming and removal.

•    Assist with lake and dam maintenance.

•    Perform basic landscaping duties i.e., weeding, planting flowers, shrubs, trees, etc.

•    Mowing and weed eating FGCC facilities (Dog Park, Robinhood Park, boat ramps, etc.

•    New landscaping projects (installing river rock, landscaping block, dirt work, boulders, etc.

•    Proper use of chemicals (weed killer, fertilizer, etc.)

•    Maintain street signs (install, paint, etc.).

•    May operate equipment (trucks, mowers, tractor, etc.)

•    Keep staging area, truck and equipment clean.

•    Other duties as assigned. 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE 

•    High School Diploma or GED

•    1 – 5 years previous experience with road construction, street maintenance and grounds keeping preferred

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES

•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

•    Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.

•    Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

REQUIRED LICENSES AND/OR CERTIFICATES

•    Valid TN Driver’s License

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

•    Walking and standing for extended periods of time.

•    Must be able to lift 40 pounds at a time (more with assistance)
