At The Maples Fort Worth, we provide specialized residential treatment for adolescent girls ages 13–18 who are recovering from eating disorders, mental health conditions, and mild substance use disorders. Our multidisciplinary team is committed to treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—through compassionate, evidence-based care.
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced Registered Dietitian (RD) to join our clinical team. This role is instrumental in helping patients restore nutritional health, challenge disordered eating behaviors, and develop lifelong skills that support recovery.
Position Summary
The Registered Dietitian provides individualized nutrition assessment, education, and treatment planning for adolescent patients in a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). This position conducts both individual nutrition counseling sessions and therapeutic nutrition groups, working closely with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, and families to support each patient's recovery.
The ideal candidate has experience treating eating disorders and enjoys working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary behavioral health team.
Essential Responsibilities
- Complete comprehensive nutrition assessments for newly admitted patients.
- Develop individualized nutrition care plans based on each patient's medical, psychological, and nutritional needs.
- Provide ongoing individual nutrition counseling sessions focused on recovery, meal planning, and healthy relationships with food.
- Facilitate engaging nutrition education and therapeutic group sessions for adolescent residents.
- Monitor nutritional progress, weight restoration goals, and treatment outcomes.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, therapists, nursing staff, and medical providers to coordinate patient care.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings.
- Provide education and support to families as part of the patient's treatment plan.
- Assist with menu planning and nutritional oversight in collaboration with food service staff.
- Support meal supervision and exposure-based interventions when clinically appropriate.
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with regulatory and accreditation standards.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and PRTF regulations.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or a related field.
- Registered Dietitian (RD/RDN) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
- Licensed Dietitian in the State of Texas (or eligible to obtain prior to start).
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
- Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
Preferred Experience
We strongly prefer candidates with experience in one or more of the following:
- Eating disorder treatment
- Adolescent behavioral health
- Psychiatric residential treatment
- Residential treatment programs
- Inpatient behavioral health or psychiatric hospitals
- Pediatric or adolescent nutrition
- Substance use treatment settings
Experience facilitating psychoeducational or therapeutic nutrition groups is highly preferred.
