JOB PURPOSE:
Performs various cleaning tasks to provide all staff, students, and visitors a safe and clean environment by maintaining standards of cleanliness, sanitation and freedom from hazards in building and grounds.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Sweeps, cleans, mops, scrubs, waxes, and dusts floors.
- Cleans, disinfects, and sanitizes classrooms, chalkboards, buildings, hotel rooms, and offices.
- Cleans toilets, basins, showers, bathtubs, and scrubs walls; restocks restroom supplies; washes windows; dusts, cleans and vacuums furniture, fixtures doors and related furnishings by using appropriate cleaning supplies.
- Performs routine maintenance to custodial equipment and supplies.
- Empties trash receptacles and bags trash for proper disposal.
- Reports malfunction of bathroom fixtures, light fixtures, and/or damages to room and hall furnishings to supervisor.
- Locks and unlocks doors as directed.
- Moves furniture, equipment or fixtures as required.
- Operates and maintains electric floor machines, snow blowers, industrial vacuums, carpet shampooing equipment and upholstery shampooing equipment.
- Cleans, refinishes and maintains a variety of floor coverings.
- Transports custodial supplies and equipment to and from storage and work areas.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
- This is an entry-level position. High School Diploma preferred.
- Six months of related experience is preferred.
- CPR/First Responder Certification preferred.
- Valid state driver's license.
- Must be able to pass background check, with NO prior convictions of any felonies.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY REQUIREMENTS:
- Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets/HASMAT.
- Knowledge of occupational hazards and applicable safety practices.
- Skill in the use of cleaning tools, chemicals, cleaners, and disinfectants.
- Ability to interact and maintain good working relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively in the Navajo and English language.
- Ability to safely use cleaning products and safely operate cleaning equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instruction.
- Ability to learn the methods of cleaning and caring for buildings, grounds, and equipment.
- Ability to work as a team member in a structured working environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to stand for prolonged periods, walk and sit.
- Use hands for dexterity of motion.
- Stoop, bend, kneel or crouch.
- Have normal auditory, visual acuity, and verbal communications skills.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work is generally performed in office setting and an outdoors environment.
- Exposure to dust, chemicals, blood borne pathogens, variances in temperature, and equipment with moving parts.
- Exposure to natural weather conditions, various dusts and mists, and normal debris and hazards common at sites may occur while performing outdoor duties.
- Tight time constraints and multiple demands are common.
- Evening and/or weekend work may be required. Extended hours and irregular shifts may be required.
