LC State invites applications for the position of Media Equipment Specialist (Classroom Technology Specialist)
Salary based on experience and qualifications: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
Required Qualifications:
- Experience managing, maintaining, and supporting advanced AV/VC systems and integrated AV/VC solutions.
- Experience designing and installing advanced video conferencing systems and integrated AV/VC solutions for classrooms, conferencing rooms, and other multifunctional environments.
- Programming and scripting expertise including the design of user interfaces for advanced video presentation systems for classrooms, conference rooms, and other multifunctional spaces.
- Experience identifying and resolving presentation system problems including routine network issues.
- Software application support experience including evaluation, implementation, and end-user training.
- Good knowledge of the principles and techniques of digital and analog applied electronics.
- Using standard electronic and electrical test equipment and bench tools.
- Customer service experience working with diverse user populations and technical skill levels.
Preferred Qualifications:
- AA or AAS degree in a field related to Information Technology or four years of experience designing, installing, and programming presentation systems.
- 3+ years of experience with customer service.
- 3+ years of experience managing, maintaining, and supporting advanced AV/VC systems and integrated AV/VC solutions.
- 3+ years of experience designing and installing advanced video conferencing systems and integrated AV/VC solutions for classrooms, conferencing rooms, and other multifunctional environments.
- Knowledge of Crestron or Extron scripting and programming.
- Experience in a higher education environment.
- Software asset management or IT service management experience.
- Experience with SaaS applications and cloud-based software solutions
- Familiarity with instructional design principles and educational technology trends
- Project management experience or certification (PMP, CAPM, or equivalent)
- ITIL Foundation or other IT service management framework knowledge
Responsibilities:
- Design, specify, install, and program advanced AV/VC systems for classrooms, conference rooms, and multifunctional spaces
- Perform monitoring, preventative maintenance, and troubleshooting of AV/VC systems
- Provide technical support for classroom technology and live events
- Develop and deliver training programs for faculty and staff on classroom technology and software applications
- Create and maintain documentation for AV/VC systems and supported software applications
- Serve as subject matter expert for instructional and business support software outside core systems
- Manage campus-wide software inventory including licenses, renewals, and compliance tracking
- Serve as liaison between departments and IT for specialized software needs and selections
- Coordinate software installation, configuration, updates, and lifecycle management
- Provide escalation support for complex application issues from Help Desk
- Ensure software solutions comply with institutional security policies and conduct preliminary security assessments
- Research and recommend emerging technologies for instructional and departmental use
- Additional responsibilities include direct and indirect activities to support recruitment and retention of students.
