Position Summary
The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a manufacturing facility or distribution center to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and employee engagement goals are achieved. This role provides direct leadership to hourly employees, coordinates workflow, monitors performance, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. The Operations Supervisor works closely with cross-functional departments including Human Resources, Safety, Quality, Maintenance, Planning, and Logistics to ensure efficient and effective operations.
Principal Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily activities of manufacturing or distribution center employees.
- Ensure production, shipping, receiving, inventory, or operational targets are achieved while maintaining quality standards.
- Monitor workflow and staffing levels to optimize productivity and efficiency.
- Communicate daily priorities, expectations, and operational updates to team members.
- Ensure completion of required operational reports, documentation, and metrics.
- Lead, coach, and develop team members to achieve individual and departmental objectives.
- Champion a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular safety observations, audits, and investigations as needed.
- Support environmental, health, and safety initiatives and training programs.
- Ensure adherence to quality standards, operating procedures, and customer requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to reduce errors, waste, and inefficiencies.
- Collaborate with Quality teams to improve processes and maintain compliance standards.
- Utilize lean manufacturing, warehouse optimization, or continuous improvement techniques to drive operational excellence.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity, quality, safety, and cost performance.
- Participate in Kaizen events, process improvement projects, and operational reviews.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement action plans to address performance gaps.
- Partner with Planning, Maintenance, Quality, HR, Inventory Control, and other departments to meet business objectives.
- Escalate operational issues and recommend solutions to leadership.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications and Skills
Education:Â
- High school diploma or GED.
Experience:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3 years of supervisory or leadership experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, distribution center, or logistics environment.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and operational systems.
