Job Description:

L3 Harris is seeking an experienced Project Engineer for our Orange, VA location. The Specialist Project Engineer role involves performing and/or coordinating propulsion program tasks in conjunction with program management. Under limited general direction, you will be responsible for implementing design and analysis tasks and overseeing special studies and experiments. Additionally, you will coordinate ballistic, thermal, and structural analyses, as well as perform post-test examination, analyses, and reporting while supporting the program technical lead. 

 

Essential Functions:

  • Theories, principles and practices of engineering and project management methods.
  • Familiarity with standard engineering tools and practices
  • Use of engineering test equipment, CAD, and computer applications with various office and engineering software applications
  • Rocket propulsion component(s) and theory of operation
  • Understanding and/or leading Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) process
  • Communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing
  • Read and interpret specifications (also write) and technical drawings.
  • Conduct technical and programmatic risk assessments
  • Interpret and evaluate engineering problems and statements
  • Use a variety of test and measurement equipment to interpret data

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and minimum of 6 years of prior relevant Engineering (Aerospace /Mechanical) experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years  of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.

 

Preferred Additional Skills:

·        Experience with solid propellant propulsion projects is highly desired

·        Background in CAD, GD&T, Analysis or Materials is desirable

·        Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software is desired
