Amazon MGM Studios is seeking an experienced Principal Events Strategist to establish and lead the strategic vision for event programming across our Awards and Activations portfolios. In this senior individual contributor role, you will be the architect and thought leader behind how we translate storytelling into unforgettable live and experiential moments that build brand perception, deepen fan engagement, and amplify awards momentum. You'll bring a track record of conceiving and executing high-profile, culturally resonant events at the intersection of entertainment, awards, and fan activation — while setting the standards and frameworks that elevate the entire events function across the company.

Key job responsibilities
* Establish and own the strategic events vision across Awards and Activations portfolios, defining a cohesive, fan-forward approach that positions Amazon MGM Studios as a thought leader at critical industry and cultural moments.
* Build scalable frameworks and operating models for events strategy and execution, creating best practices, standards, and repeatable systems that raise the quality bar across the entire events function.
* Develop the strategic events roadmap, integrating awards season milestones, fan activations, and brand tentpoles into a unified, year-round programming plan that aligns with broader marketing and content strategy.
* Lead creative direction and flawless execution on landmark consumer activations, fan experiences, premiere events, and awards-season programming (FYC screenings, guild events, industry gatherings) in partnership with Activations, Marketing, Communications, and Talent teams.
* Manage event budgets and optimize ROI across the portfolio, identifying efficiencies and maximizing return on investment to deliver world-class events within resource constraints.
* Build and maintain strategic partnerships with agencies, venues, talent representatives, and industry stakeholders — establishing Amazon MGM Studios as a premium partner and unlocking high-impact event opportunities.
* Define measurement frameworks and drive data-informed decisions — establishing KPIs, tracking ROI, and translating event performance into strategic insights that guide future programming and industry positioning.
* Serve as the strategic voice and thought leader on all events execution, presenting strategy, recommendations, and outcomes to senior leadership and serving as the primary strategic advisor on events across the company.
* Partner strategically across functions — aligning with Marketing, Communications, PR, Talent, and Creative teams to ensure cohesive campaign narratives and establish events as a core pillar of brand strategy.
* Mentor and develop events strategy talent across the organization, building a culture of strategic thinking, fan-first creativity, and operational excellence that extends the impact of the function. Basic Qualifications: * 9+ years of professional experience in events strategy, experiential marketing, or entertainment marketing events, with at least 5+ years in a principal, lead, or senior strategic capacity.
* Demonstrated experience owning and executing large-scale, high-profile events in the entertainment industry, including awards season activations (FYC, screenings, guild events, awards show programming) and/or consumer fan activations.
* Strong track record of cross-functional collaboration and alignment, including experience partnering with Marketing, Communications, PR, Talent, and Creative teams on integrated campaign event programming.
* Proven experience managing significant event budgets with a results-oriented, cost-efficient approach to maximizing event ROI.
* Demonstrated ability to develop frameworks, establish strategic processes, and implement scalable systems that improve team efficiency and event quality across large organizations.
* Experience presenting strategy, recommendations, and performance outcomes to senior leadership in a structured, data-informed manner.
* Experience organizing events across multiple locations. Preferred Qualifications: * Experience working at a major studio, streaming platform, premium network, or world-class entertainment marketing agency with direct exposure to awards season strategy and fan event programming.
* Deep knowledge of the awards season ecosystem (Academy Awards, Emmy Awards, Golden Globes, SAG Awards, Critics Choice, guild organizations, and key awards-adjacent publications and events).
* Experience establishing thought leadership and shaping industry standards for events strategy and execution.
* Experience leading events strategy across both prestige film and premium television/streaming content simultaneously.
* Track record of developing and scaling fan engagement events and consumer activations that measurably drive audience growth, brand affinity, or earned media impact.
* Demonstrated ability to establish measurement frameworks for events, including defining KPIs, tracking ROI, and translating event performance data into actionable strategic recommendations.
* Strong existing relationships with entertainment industry stakeholders, venues, agencies, talent representatives, and key event partners in the Los Angeles market and beyond.
* Familiarity with the broader Amazon ecosystem and experience navigating large, matrixed organizations to drive alignment across multiple business units.
