SUMMARY

Installs and repairs electrical systems, apparatus, and electrical and electronic components of industrial machinery and equipment by performing the following duties.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Installs power supply wiring and conduit for newly installed machines and equipment such as robots, conveyors, and programmable controllers.

Connects power supply wires to machines and equipment, and connects cables and wires between machines and equipment.

Diagnoses malfunctioning apparatus such as transformers, motors, and lighting fixtures and replaces damaged or broken wires and cables.

Tests malfunctioning machinery and discusses malfunction with other maintenance workers, such as Maintenance Machine Repairer and Maintenance Tool Maker, to diagnose malfunction.

Replaces faulty electrical components of machine such as relays, switches, and motors, and positions sensing devices.

Diagnoses and repairs or replaces faulty electronic components, such as printed circuit boards.

Replaces electric motor bearings and rewires motors.

Pushes buttons and presses keys on robot controller, teach pendant, and programmable controller to program automated machinery, such as robots, to operate automated machinery, to test for malfunctions, and to verify repairs.

Plans layout of wiring and installs wiring, conduit, and electrical apparatus in buildings.

Diagnoses and replaces faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines and equipment.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Tech Degree (Electrical) from a Tech College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Able to trouble shoot and repair all process and supportive equipment, building and grounds equipment. Must know Lockout/Tag out and Confined Space Entry.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must have a valid state driver’s license, or the ability to obtain one. Maintain an updated forklift drivers license (renewable every two years).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions; and vibration.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

 

SAFETY 

 Keep work area clean and free of clutter (housekeeping); Use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE); Using correct tool for each job assignment; Report injuries of oneself or coworkers to management; Report job hazards immediately (correct when possible); Inspect all tools (powered and hand) and materials for defects and safety issues; Follow safety rules and guidelines.

 

SHIFT SCHEDULE   C Shift - Thursday thru Sunday 8am-8pm

INTERNAL CANDIDATES’ ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

•              No written warnings within the previous six (6) months

•              No written warning with suspensions within the previous twelve (12) months

•              Must not have six  (6) or more attendance points
