Description


APPLE INC has the following available in Cupertino, California and various unanticipated locations throughout the USA. Responsible for mechanical design of manual and automated systems for high volume final assembly calibration/testing. Design and develop test fixtures, jigs, mounting brackets, alignments systems, etc. Drive design reviews, participate in design validation and characterization during product design, prototyping and deployment. Drive failure analysis and design of experiments (DOEs) to reach design solutions and corrective actions. Manage vendor engineering design, prototyping schedule and manufacturing plan. Support failure analysis and perform continuous improvement in product manufacturability and performance. Contribute to the production of the highest quality products available. Support new vendor development to expand Apple’s vendor base with regards to capability, capacity, and geographical influence. International and domestic travel required 15% 40 hours/week. At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $172,100 - $258,600/yr and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Minimum Qualifications


Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or a related field. Experience and/or education must include: Using 3D CAD tools including Unigraphics NX or similar tools to create mechanical design. Using mechanical engineering fundamentals to generate the best design choices and review vendor design for system lifetime performance. Designing and implementing basic test apparatus to validate prototypes and concept design. GD&T (Geometry, Dimensioning and Tolerancing) to prepare and/or review manufacturing drawings of systems and parts. DFM (Design for Manufacturing) to enable cost effective, easy to manufacture, and optimized system products. DFA (Design for Assembly), FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) to anticipate and prevent potential failure in the factory. Designing automation and robotic systems using electro-mechanical systems concepts Employing cross functional communication to bridge between several internal organizations and external vendors. Assembling and testing prototypes to support design team with early learnings. Designing optomechanical instruments, automation systems and mechatronic modules using precision motion stages, optical mounting techniques, and kinematic constraints.
