Description
Day to day tasks involve electrical design (both schematic capture and PCB layout), simulation, bringup, debug, and validation for Macs. EE’s are responsible for both schematic capture and coordinating layout of highly constrained multilayer PCBs including HDI and fine pitch BGAs. Routine responsibilities also include bring-up, validation, factory build support, and multi-disciplinary cross-functional collaboration and negotiation. We are looking for well-rounded candidates with a broad set of skill and interests, and the curiosity to dig deep wherever necessary to solve challenging problems. Opportunities exist to sample a variety of technology areas, and to remain general or specialize over time, developing domain expertise.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field of study with industry level practical work experience. Strong EE fundamentals, grounded in a solid understanding of E&M physics and first principles with an understanding of computer / system architecture and the associated design tradeoffs. Working knowledge of design and validation requirements for common low-speed and high-speed digital interfaces: I2C/SMBus, SPMI, SPI, JTAG, I2S/TDM, USB, MIPI, PCIe, DisplayPort, Thunderbolt. Experience using lab tools such as 25 GHz oscilloscopes, network analyzers, and BERT scopes to judge the quality and robustness of electrical designs. Experience with electrical compliance SW and protocol decode. Experience in circuit design for a variety of domains including power, digital, analog, high-speed communications, programmable logic, and/or wireless. Experience working closely with software and firmware teams on design bring-up, validation and test of electrical circuits and communication interfaces. Work with constrained multilayer PCBs including HDI and fine pitch BGAs. Requires familiarity with Allegro or other PCB design tool. Experience designing for high-speed and high power system based cables and flex boards, Multi layer flexible PCBs and the ability to perform component data-sheet analysis and selection for schematic capture. Inclusive of both digital and analog design (power sensing, filtering, etc).
Preferred Qualifications
Schematic capture and constraint-driven PCB layout using Cadence tools or similar. Experience with PCB bringup and debug, including new or custom silicon, using standard EE lab equipment: Soldering, DMM, Oscilloscope, Logic Analyzer, Spectrum Analyzer. Experience with complex data analysis, data visualization and script development. Beyond technical aptitude, we prize curiosity, creativity, integrity, leadership, teamwork, and a passion for learning. Excellent written and verbal communication/presentation skills.
