Summary of Functions
The Host/Hostess is responsible for creating a welcoming first and lasting impression for guests by providing attentive, courteous, and efficient service. This position coordinates guest seating, supports dining room operations, and works collaboratively with servers, bussers, and leadership to ensure an exceptional guest experience aligned with Kalispel Hospitality standards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensures compliance with Kalispel Tribe of Indians Internal Controls, Northern Quest Resort & Casino policies and procedures, and applicable regulations.
- Provides Kalispel Hospitality by delivering attentive, friendly, and personalized service to guests.
- Welcomes guests in a warm and professional manner, escorts guests to tables, and provides menus.
- Creates a positive guest experience by greeting guests upon arrival and inviting them to return upon departure.
- Coordinates guest seating using proper rotation procedures to support efficient dining room operations.
- Maintains consistent communication with servers, bussers, and leadership to ensure smooth service and an exceptional guest experience.
- Accommodates guest preferences and requests while maintaining a positive and professional attitude.
- Educates guests regarding daily specials, menu offerings, and available dining options.
- Communicates guest concerns, service issues, and food complaints to the appropriate supervisor.
- Answers incoming phone calls in a professional, welcoming, and helpful manner.
- Assists bussers and dining room staff as needed to maintain cleanliness and operational efficiency.
- Maintains a clean, organized, and well-stocked host area.
- Performs duties as a collaborative team member to support successful restaurant operations.
- Maintains flexibility and availability to work schedule changes based on business needs.
- Maintains a consistent and reliable attendance record.
- May participate as a panelist for Internal Review Hearings.
- Performs other duties as assigned by management.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or General Education Development (GED) equivalent required.
Experience
- Prior host/hostess, cashier, or customer service experience preferred.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to provide exceptional guest service in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
- Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests and team members.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Tribal Gaming License.
- Washington State Food Worker Card required within 14 days of employment.
- Hepatitis A vaccination required.
- Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules based on business needs
Physical Requirements

- Ability to lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Constantly required to receive detailed information through oral communication and distinguish differences in sound.
- Constantly required to communicate information verbally, including providing instructions clearly, accurately, and efficiently.
- Constantly required to use hands and fingers to operate equipment and complete tasks.
- Constantly required to perform repetitive movements involving the wrists, hands, and fingers.
- Frequently required to walk or move throughout the restaurant environment.
- Occasionally required to stand and/or sit for extended periods.
- Occasionally required to ascend or descend stairs or ramps.
- Occasionally required to lift, carry, or move objects from lower to higher positions or horizontally.
- Occasionally required to stoop and bend using lower extremities and back muscles; may infrequently require crouching.
- Requires close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The work environment characteristics described below represent those encountered while performing the essential functions of this position.
- Works in a fast-paced restaurant and hospitality environment.
- Regular interaction with guests, team members, and leadership.
- May be exposed to varying noise levels, frequent movement, and changing business demands.
- Requires flexibility to work varying schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
