Job Details:
Schedule: 8:00 p.m. – 8:00 a.m. (Four 12‑hour shifts)
Summary
This position supports the operation and maintenance of various wastewater treatment systems, including the wastewater analysis laboratory, collection system, pre‑treatment system, and full treatment system. Responsibilities may include:
- Collecting samples in accordance with EPA, state, and health department regulations.
- Performing chemical analyses both in and outside of a laboratory setting.
- Making system adjustments based on interpretation of analytical results.
- Exercising sound judgment to maintain regulatory compliance.
- Performing mathematical calculations using basic algebra and a calculator.
- Completing computerized reports and compiling information for monthly reporting requirements (permits, state authority, EPA, or corporate management).
- Applying basic organizational, mechanical, and electrical wiring skills.
- Communicating operational status to upper management.
- Maintaining operational logs.
- Performing minor and major equipment maintenance.
- Operating a spotter truck and/or forklift.
- Performing groundskeeping, painting, general housekeeping, and other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Education
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- 1+ years of wastewater experience preferred.
Computer Skills
- Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Communication Skills
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
Certifications
- Must complete a site‑selected stormwater training program within 30 days.
- Must complete “Industrial Waste Treatment, Volume I” and “Volume II” (California State University Sacramento) within 12 months.
- Must obtain the lowest grade certification within 12 months or per state regulations.
Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must obtain higher certification levels up to Level A as required by the facility and state regulations.
- Must meet and maintain minimum state‑required qualification levels.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift 50–75 pounds.
- Ability to climb/descend stairs or ladders.
- Ability to work in unsanitary conditions and with hazardous chemicals.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- None.
Travel
- 1–2 trips per year.
