Who are we looking for? Â
At GHD we are looking for a new GIS Intern to join the Location Intelligence team at our Eureka or Santa Rosa - CA office. In this role you will create spatial data sets, maintain databases, analyze spatial data, and prepare digital maps through geographic information systems (GIS). You will also prepare reports and provide interpretation and advice.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:Â
- Prepare mobile digital maps and data for field data collection.
- Prepare online digital maps and data for desktop review and public access.
- Evaluate data from multiple sources to determine the quality and ensure data is clean and accurate.
- Geographic Information System (GIS): Prepare and deliver GIS figures for reporting and planning.
- Data Management: Gather, compile, migrate and convert data sets for project needs from a variety of internal and external sources (e.g. conversion between CADD and GIS).
- Personal Capability Building: Develop and maintain an understanding of relevant technology, and industry best practices.
- Document Preparation: Gather and summarize data for reports.
- Health, Safety, and Environment: Follow the organization's health, safety, and environment (HSE) policies, procedures, and mandatory instructions to identify and mitigate environmental risks and risks to the well-being of self and others in the workplace; instruct the team in safe working methods; identify instances of risky behaviors within the team and take appropriate action, escalating serious issues as appropriate.
What you will bring to the Team
Education
- Currently enrolled in a Geospatial Science degree or focused academic degree or certificate program.
Experience
- No experience required.
- Familiarity with ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise is a plus.

Salary Range: $20.00 to $25.00 based on experience and location.
