Job Summary:

The Principal Systems Engineer provides senior-level engineering support for the concept definition, design, integration, and engineering of maritime, launcher, missile, weapon, or weapon control systems. The role leads systems engineering activities including requirements development and management, system architecture development, risk management, testing, and integration of complex weapon system components.

Essential Duties: 

  • Support concept definition, design, integration, and engineering of maritime, launcher, missile, weapon, or weapon control systems.
  • Perform systems requirements management and systems engineering design activities.
  • Utilize systems engineering software tools and systems engineering processes.
  • Develop system requirements, manage risk, and support requirements traceability and verification methods associated with weapon systems.
  • Support the design, development, and testing of surface launching system components to ensure reliability.
  • Develop system architecture, system requirements at multiple levels, interface diagrams, test matrices, and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).
  • Provide information and support for system engineering events.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline.

Experience:

  • Experience with Naval Surface Warfare Center / DoD Test and Evaluation support preferred. 
  • Twenty (20) years of missile integration and test experience with at least seven (7) years of specialized experience with engineering responsibilities in a minimum of two of the following areas: Missile Systems, Weapon/Combat Systems, Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, Vertical Launching System (VLS), Standard Missile, or Weapon/Combat Systems/Missile Systems Electrical and Software Interfaces
  • Specialized experience performing systems requirements management, systems engineering design, utilization of systems engineering software tools, and systems engineering processes.
  • Engineering experience developing requirements, performing risk management, and supporting requirements traceability and verification methods associated with weapon systems, specifically missiles, launchers, or weapon control systems.
  • Engineering experience in the design, development, and testing of surface launching system components for reliability.
  • Engineering experience generating system architecture, system requirements at multiple levels, interface diagrams, test matrices, and Concepts of Operations (CONOPS).
  • Experience providing information for system engineering events.

Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of maritime, launcher, missile, weapon, or weapon control systems engineering concepts and processes.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes including requirements management and systems engineering design.
  • Ability to utilize systems engineering software tools.
  • Knowledge of requirements development, risk management, and requirements traceability and verification methods.
  • Ability to support the design, development, and testing of surface launching system components.
  • Ability to develop system architecture, interface diagrams, test matrices, and CONOPS.
  • Ability to support and provide information for system engineering events.
