Job Summary:
The Technical Specialist supports the design, implementation, manufacturing, configuration, and checkout of networks, systems, computer components, peripheral equipment, and networking hardware. The role provides technical support related to computer hardware, system components, laboratory activities, and prototype devices, and contributes to engineering analysis, system maintenance, and technical documentation.
Essential Duties:Â
- Support the design, implementation, manufacturing, configuration, and checkout of networks, systems, computer components, peripheral equipment, and networking hardware.
- Work with computer processors, displays, input/output devices, and hardware interfaces.
- Perform engineering analysis using tools such as LabVIEW or MATLAB.
- Support the upkeep and operation of an electromechanical laboratory.
- Build and test cables and electronic sub-assemblies.
- Support the machining, assembly, or testing of prototype mechanical devices from provided designs.
- Utilize Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks or Pro Engineer.
- Perform systems analysis and provide technical documentation, maintenance, repair, operation, and support of systems or system components.
Experience:
- Experience with Naval Surface Warfare Center / DoD Test and Evaluation support preferred.
- Three (3) years of experience with the design, implementation, manufacturing, configuration, and checkout of networks, systems, computer components, peripheral equipment, or networking hardware.
- Knowledge of computer processors, displays, input/output devices, and hardware interfaces.
- Experience in at least one (1) of the following areas:
- Using engineering analysis and development tools such as LabVIEW and MATLAB.
- Upkeep of an electromechanical laboratory.
- Building and testing cables and electronic sub-assemblies.
- Machining, assembly, or testing of prototype mechanical devices from provided designs.
- Using CAD software such as SolidWorks or Pro Engineer.
- Systems analysis, technical documentation, maintenance, repair, operation, and support of systems or system components.
Knowledge, Skill and Abilities:
- Knowledge of the design, implementation, manufacturing, configuration, and checkout of networks, systems, computer components, peripheral equipment, and networking hardware.
- Knowledge of computer processors, displays, input/output devices, and hardware interfaces.
- Ability to perform engineering analysis using tools such as LabVIEW and MATLAB.

- Ability to support machining, assembly, or testing of prototype mechanical devices.

- Ability to support electromechanical laboratory operations.
Desired Certifications:
- Operator Proficiency Certified for J-STD-001
- IPC-A-610 certification (Acceptability of Electronic Assemblies)
