Job Description Summary:
The Field Support Specialist will provide advanced corrective maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair support across multiple solar facilities. This role functions as a regional technical resource, supporting escalated technical issues, non-conformance items, and complex system-level failures while traveling extensively throughout the assigned region.This role is located full-time on a jobsite, and will require travel throughout the Eastern region. Position Responsibilities and Duties:Â
Stresses the importance that safety is the most important function, ensuring that all employees follow safe practices while workingÂ
Able to perform all essential Solar Field Service Technician Level II or Level III job responsibilitiesÂ
Perform advanced troubleshooting, corrective maintenance, testing, and repair of solar equipment and systems with minimal or no supervisionÂ
Serve as a regional technical resource for corrective maintenance activities, NCS items, and escalated troubleshooting issues across multiple sitesÂ
Travel extensively (approximately 75 percent) to support corrective maintenance activities throughout the assigned regionÂ
Perform detailed electrical testing, troubleshooting, and repair of low, medium, and high voltage systems, including inverters, combiners, trackers, MV equipment, and substation-adjacent componentsÂ
Utilize system monitoring applications, SCADA, and plant data to diagnose system-level and equipment-level issuesÂ
Support root cause analysis efforts and provide technical recommendations to prevent repeat failuresÂ
Coordinate with site personnel, Field Service Leads, OCC, Project Management Teams, and other internal stakeholders during corrective maintenance activitiesÂ
Accurately account for time, materials, and corrective actions expended in the performance of job responsibilitiesÂ
Maintain a high standard of documentation, including detailed work orders, corrective action reports, NCS closeout documentation, and technical summariesÂ
Operate service equipment safely and maintain required records related to equipment and systemsÂ
Understand, follow, and communicate safety regulations, site-specific procedures, and work controlsÂ
Support training and technical knowledge sharing with site technicians as needed during corrective activitiesÂ
Assess safety concerns and exercise Stop Work authority when conditions warrantÂ
Assess and suggest improved processes, collaborate on new technologies, and coordinate with management regarding implementation of improvementsÂ

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements:Â
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or equivalent, Vocational or Technical School training a plusÂ
Associates Degree or Certificate in Electronics, Electrical Technology, or Mechanics preferredÂ
Minimum three years of experience in utility-scale solar and/or a related electrical power industryÂ
Strong corrective maintenance and troubleshooting background requiredÂ
Demonstrated understanding of safe electrical and mechanical practicesÂ
Demonstrated advanced knowledge of electrical testing and troubleshooting equipmentÂ
Strong working knowledge of utility-scale solar systems, protection devices, control systems, power supplies, loads, conductors, inverters, transformers, and balance-of-plant equipmentÂ
Strong working knowledge of DC electrical theory and advanced troubleshooting methods for safe and effective work within photovoltaic (PV) arraysÂ
Ability to troubleshoot network, communications, and telemetry-related issuesÂ
Familiarity with substation operations, including switching plans, one-line diagrams, field drawings, and as-built documentationÂ
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, one-lines, wiring diagrams, field drawings, and as-built documentationÂ
Strong computer operation skills, including CMMS, system monitoring applications, and standard office softwareÂ
Demonstrated ability to produce clear, accurate, and thorough technical documentation and reportsÂ
Valid OSHA 10 certification required (OSHA 30 preferred)Â
Valid NFPA 70E Safety Training certification requiredÂ
Inverter Field Application Specialist (FAS) certifications or other relevant electrical certifications are not required, but are considered a strong plusÂ
Substation training and/or certifications highly recommendedÂ
Remain current in all safety and technical trainingsÂ
Effective verbal and written English language communication skillsÂ
Effective organizational and time management skills, especially in a multi-site support roleÂ
Ability to work independently at remote locations in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, inclement weather)Â
Ability to work on an on-call basis (may include weekends or after-hours situations)Â
Ability to travel extensively (approximately 75 percent), including overnight and extended assignmentsÂ
Valid driver’s license, satisfactory driving record, and ability to operate company vehicleÂ
