Description

The Superintendent at FW Walton is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations across commercial and residential roofing and construction projects. This role ensures jobsite safety, quality, productivity, and professionalism while supervising foremen, crews, and subcontractors. The Superintendent is a key field leader who ensures work is executed according to company standards, project specifications, and customer expectations.

Requirements

 

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and professional jobsite at all times
  • Enforce FW Walton safety policies and regulatory compliance (OSHA, site-specific protocols)
  • Report all accidents, incidents, or injuries immediately and ensure proper medical care is administered if needed
  • Supervise, coordinate, and support foremen and field crews across assigned projects
  • Ensure assigned personnel are properly trained, certified, and qualified to perform their tasks
  • Conduct regular (at least weekly) foremen meetings to review progress, resolve issues, and plan upcoming work
  • Provide technical guidance and leadership to ensure high-quality workmanship and timely completion
  • Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and positive team morale
  • Communicates project status, needs, and concerns clearly to the Project Manager and Branch Manager
  • Coordinate material deliveries, equipment needs, and manpower allocation for efficiency and profitability
  • Ensure that all FW Walton equipment and assets are properly maintained, secured, and used responsibly
  • Complete all required documentation accurately and on time (e.g., daily reports, safety checklists, production logs), utilizing internal FW Walton software systems such as SAR and DJRS (Daily Job Reporting), and incorporating general technology tools as required to support efficient reporting and communication. 
  • Review and validate foremen paperwork to ensure accuracy and completeness
  • Assist with onboarding and development of new employees, including training and skills assessments
  • Participate in employee performance evaluations and coaching in coordination with management
  • Identify and resolve jobsite conflicts or delays proactively
  • Support company goals and ensure project success from start to finish
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by management 


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proven ability to lead teams and manage field operations on active job sites
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make effective decisions under pressure
  • Knowledge of roofing and construction methods, safety practices, and project sequencing
  • Ability to “walk the job” and give hands-on direction based on experience and expertise
  • Effective communicator with both field and office personnel
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specs, and scopes of work
  • Competence with basic computer applications (email, Microsoft Word, spreadsheets)
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred
  • Professionalism, integrity, and a commitment to high performance
  • High school diploma or GED required, industry certifications or continuing education a plus
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in roofing or general construction
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in a Foreman or Supervisor role
  • Familiarity with commercial and residential jobsite requirements
  • Working knowledge of safety standards (OSHA), construction procedures, and compliance protocols
  • Valid driver’s license and insurable driving record in accordance with company policy 



WORKING CONDITIONS

  • Field-based role with daily jobsite presence required
  • Exposure to outdoor elements, heights, and physically demanding tasks
  • Occasional travel to local or regional job sites may be required
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and use ladders, scaffolding, and PPE appropriately
  • Work hours may include early mornings, extended shifts, or weekends depending on project needs
