Senior Underwriter – Risk Management

Location: Dallas, TX

Position Overview:                        

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Senior Underwriter to join our Risk Management team in Dallas. This role is responsible for expanding and managing a primary casualty portfolio, with a specific emphasis on risks brokered from the South Central and Western Region territories. The Senior Underwriter will oversee all aspects of portfolio management, including solicitation of submissions, underwriting analysis, and the preparation and issuance of indications, quotations, and binders. The ideal candidate will possess a proven track record in commercial casualty underwriting, strong broker relationships, and the ability to deliver quality service while achieving company goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Solicit, analyze, and underwrite new and renewal business for General Liability, Liquor Liability, Workers’ Compensation, and Commercial Automobile risks
  • Evaluate and interpret data to assess risks and potential exposures, determining appropriate coverage terms and pricing for each policy.
  • Prepare and issue indications, quotations, and binders in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Track pipeline activity and provide weekly production forecasts to management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with retail and wholesale brokers, as well as clients, to ensure high levels of service and customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with underwriting team members and other departments to achieve company objectives.
  • Monitor account performance, making recommendations for improvements or changes as needed.
  • Stay current with industry trends, regulations, guidelines, and changes to NCCI and ISO policy forms and endorsements.
  • Participate in marketing and sales meetings within assigned territories, including travel as required.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in commercial casualty underwriting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in risk assessment, pricing, and portfolio management within the commercial casualty insurance segment.
  • Proven ability to multi-task, prioritize workflows, and manage multiple priorities and deadlines efficiently.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with a professional demeanor in both written and verbal interactions.
  • Established relationships with brokers in the South Central and/or Western Regions.
  • Proficiency in underwriting software, data analysis, and Microsoft Office Suite.
