JOB SUMMARY:The CDL Instructoris responsible forproviding instruction for classroom courses, road and range training, defensive driving, and other applicable training / re-training activities for students to obtain their commercial driving license.Stevens Transport provides CDL training and job placement for drivers looking to begin a new career and leading continuing education/re-training for seasoned drivers. Â

We are looking for positive and energetic individuals to educate and train students to be safe and defensive drivers. You are great at explaining concepts and find purpose in drawing on personal experiences to relate the material presented.Â

This is not an OTR position. You will be home every day.Â
JOB DESCRIPTION:Â Â
Key Responsibilities Â
Teaching student drivers how and where to diagnose vehicle malfunctions through pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspectionsÂ
Observing over-the-road skills (backing, lane control, axle weights, etc.)Â Â
Instructing how to use anauto transmission in different driving conditions (highway, city, night vs. day, inclement weather, etc.)Â
Showing how to use on-board vehicle communication and routing systemsÂ
Emphasizing (and re-emphasizing!) the importance of safetyÂ
Evaluating progress and grading students throughout the programÂ
Maintaining student files in compliance with company and regulatory standardsÂ
Providing exceptional customer service to all studentsÂ
QUALIFICATIONS:Â Â
Minimum QualificationsÂ
Active CDL (Class A) licenseÂ
Clean drug screen, background, and motor vehicle recordsÂ
High school diploma or GED equivalentÂ
Effective communication and presentation skillsÂ
Patient and sensitive to the learning needs of othersÂ
Sensible judgement and capable of handling changing priorities with flexibilityÂ

3+ years of recent verifiable OTR driving experience within the last 10 yearsÂ
