Accounting Specialist
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to be responsible for managing daily accounting operations, financial reporting, accounts receivables/payables, and month-end closing processes. This successful candidate will have the duties of ensuring accurate financial records, managing reporting processes, monitoring profitability, and supporting company leadership with financial analysis and operational accounting functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily accounting operations including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and General Ledger activities聽
- Reconcile bank accounts and maintain accurate financial records聽
- Enter and process invoices, payments, deposits, and customer account activity聽
- Monitor and collect past due accounts and maintain Accounts Receivable aging reports聽
- Review daily sales and profitability reports to investigate discrepancies and margin variances聽
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for management聽
- Oversee month-end and year-end closing processes in Sage
- Prepare reports and documentation for CPA review and tax reporting聽
- Maintain customer account setup and financial data accuracy聽
- Ensure timely processing of recurring invoices, payments, and reconciliations聽
- Support inventory, fuel surcharge, and operational reporting processes聽
- Assist with compliance reporting including 1099s, sales tax, and unclaimed property filings聽
Qualifications聽
- Associate鈥檚 Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field聽
- 3+ years of experience in accounting or bookkeeping
- Extensive work with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Strong knowledge of Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, and financial reporting聽
- Experience with Sage 100 ERP systems preferred聽
- Advanced Excel and spreadsheet skills聽
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities聽
- Attention to detail with strong communication and time management skills
- Experience working in a small to mid-sized company environment
