The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for leading client accounting engagements, reviewing accounting work, developing accounting team members, and serving as a trusted advisor to clients. Job Responsibilities
- Oversee client accounting activities, including bookkeeping, reporting, review procedures, technology utilization, and value-added service recommendations.
- Review financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting workpapers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with firm standards.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned clients, providing proactive support and building trusted relationships.
- Supervise, coach, and develop accounting team members while reviewing work and providing ongoing feedback.
- Assist with client onboarding, including software implementation, data migration, and process setup.
- Support complex accounting matters, including audits, technical accounting research, financial system implementations, and other special projects while partnering with Accounting Managers on more technical issues.
- Analyze financial reports and accounting records to identify issues, recommend solutions, and provide meaningful financial insights.
- Manage multiple client engagements and deadlines while maintaining organized workpapers and engagement documentation within Karbon and other firm systems.
- Evaluate technology and identify process improvements that enhance efficiency, reporting accuracy, and the client experience.
- Participate in interviewing, onboarding, and developing accounting team members as the firm continues to grow.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, preferably within public accounting, client accounting services (CAS), or an outsourced accounting environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- CPA or active progress toward obtaining a CPA license strongly preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, month-end close, and internal controls.
- Experience reviewing the work of other accountants and mentoring or leading team members.
- Experience managing multiple client engagements or business entities simultaneously.
- Exposure to audits, technical accounting matters, financial system implementations, or acquisitions preferred.
- Strong communication, project management, analytical, and organizational skills.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting technologies such as QBO, Xero, Expensify, or similar platforms.
- Entrepreneurial, solutions-oriented mindset with a passion for technology, process improvement, and developing others.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and quality.
