About the Role
The Airline AOG Buyer is responsible for the expedited sourcing and procurement of aircraft parts, components, tooling, and materials required to resolve AOG situations. This role requires quick decision-making, strong vendor relationships, and close coordination with Maintenance, Engineering, Operations, and logistics providers to support the fastest possible aircraft recovery. You’ll manage urgent purchasing activity from initial request through delivery while ensuring all materials meet JSX quality, documentation, traceability, and regulatory requirements.

 

A Day in the Life
In this role, you’ll:

  • Respond immediately to AOG requests from Maintenance, Engineering, and Operations teams.

  • Source aircraft parts, components, tooling, and materials through approved vendors and suppliers.

  • Expedite procurement through vendors on the Approved Vendor List (AVL) and Part 121/135 carriers in accordance with the General Maintenance Manual (GMM) and applicable FARs.

  • Negotiate pricing, delivery schedules, and shipping methods while balancing aircraft recovery needs with cost considerations.

  • Issue purchase orders and monitor fulfillment from placement through final delivery.

  • Coordinate domestic and international logistics, including same-day couriers, charter services, and expedited freight.

  • Verify required documentation, certifications, traceability, and airworthiness of purchased parts, including applicable FAA and EASA documentation.

  • Ensure purchasing activity complies with FAA requirements, JSX purchasing policies, and quality standards.

  • Maintain continuous communication with Maintenance Control, Operations, vendors, and logistics providers throughout AOG events.

  • Review inventory availability and identify opportunities to use existing stock before pursuing external procurement.

  • Maintain accurate purchasing and transaction records within applicable ERP and MRO systems.

  • Develop strong supplier relationships that improve response times, availability, and service levels.

  • Participate in required after-hours, weekend, holiday, and AOG coverage.

Required Experience

  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple urgent requests in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively across departments.

  • Knowledge of domestic and international shipping procedures and customs documentation.

  • Ability to work an overnight 6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. shift.
     

Preferred Experience

  • 2+ years of purchasing experience, preferably within the aviation or aerospace industry.

  • Experience working for an airline, MRO, aircraft manufacturer, or aviation parts distributor.

  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 121 and/or Part 135 operations.

  • Experience sourcing aircraft parts, components, tooling, or other aviation materials.

  • Experience working with aviation purchasing, ERP, or MRO systems.

  • Familiarity with FAA/EASA documentation, aircraft parts traceability, and airworthiness requirements.

This role requires intermittent physical activity, including bending, reaching, and prolonged periods of sitting or standing. May perform other responsibilities as assigned.
