About this Role
The Assistant Buyer serves as a backbone for the Buying Department by supporting the day-to-day administrative and buying functions essential to the department's success. This role plays a key part in ensuring the Buying Department processes are accurate and efficient, while providing opportunities for professional development and growth.
The ideal candidate enjoys organization, problem-solving, working with systems and keeping details accurate. They thrive in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in producing high-quality results.
This is an entry-level opportunity for someone looking to gain hands-on experience and grow within the Buying Department.
Your time will be spent on:
- Purchase Order & Data Management – record, organize and maintain all purchase orders and inventory-related data, including pricing, product descriptions, and vendor information across company systems.
- Receiving Support – partner closely with Receiving team to investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, update inventory records, and support receiving operations as needed.
- Vendor Payment Reconciling – verify vendor invoices and payment details, reconcile discrepancies, and maintain accurate vendor records to ensure accountability.
- Handling RTVs (Return to Vendor) & Consignment Management – coordinate merchandise swaps, vendor returns and consignment inventory while maintaining accurate records.
- Market Support – coordinating market schedules and organizing documentation before and after apparel markets.
- Special Projects – assist Senior Buyer with special projects including product training preparation and inventory educational materials for our Sales team.

- Have strong attention detail — accuracy is essential when working with purchase orders, inventory, pricing, invoices and vendor communication.
- Be well-organized — juggle multiple deadlines, shipments, and vendor communication while keeping work organized and knowing what to prioritize.
- Be analytical and number-savvy — have basic Excel/Google Sheet skills and be comfortable working with inventory and vendor data.
- Take ownership — follow through on responsibilities to ensure accuracy and efficiency, self-manage and work independently to ensure tasks and projects are completed.
- Think proactively — look for opportunities to improve workflows, identify tasks or small projects that need attention to help the Buying Department operate more efficiently.
- Be tech-savvy — be comfortable learning technology or have basic familiarity with AI tools such as ChatGPT, Claude, or similar productivity software.
