GENERAL OBJECTIVES:

The Assistant Coach – Men’s and Women’s Golf will provide leadership, mentorship, instruction, motivation, and support to the golf program. The goal and objective of DBU Athletics is to develop Champions for Christ, both on and off the playing surface. The four pillars of the DBU Department of Athletics include academic excellence, athletic success, community engagement, and spiritual development.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred.

 

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Perform job duties in accordance with DBU's vision, mission and values, and in a way that contributes to the development of the Athletics Department.

  • Assist the head coach with administering a competitive NCAA program to include organizing, supervising, and maintaining a schedule of practices and events, coordinating physical conditioning programs with Athletic Performance staff, and instructing student-athletes in strategies and performance principles.

  • Serve as Head Coach of the Club Golf program, with responsibility for organizing and leading practices, developing and managing the competition schedule, overseeing travel logistics, and supervising club roster management and day-to-day operations.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and retain club golf participants, and serve as the primary point of contact for club members, club sport administration, and any national club golf association (e.g., NCCGA) requirements.
  • Manage the club golf program's budget and equipment/facility needs in coordination with the Athletics Department and campus club sports office, as applicable.
  • Support the individual educational goals of student-athletes and provide opportunities for academic assistance to student-athletes if required, monitoring the academic progress of each participating student-athlete.
  • Maintain the integrity of the athletic program through knowledge and application of NCAA rules and regulations. Demonstrate a working knowledge of NCAA rules. Inform and educate student-athletes of all appropriate NCAA eligibility rules.
  • Recruit qualified student-athletes for varsity and club programs.
  • Be active in all department-wide fundraising and related professional activities.
  • Be supportive of all athletic teams and other athletic department personnel.
  • Hold membership in appropriate national associations and be active in related professional activities.
  • Practice superior customer service.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.

 

WORK SCHEDULE:             

A minimum of 40 hours per week or more is necessary to meet the requirements of the program. A typical workweek is expected in the 50 to 60+ hour range. Travel is required throughout the year for games.

 

WORK LOCATION:

This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211

 

 

Qualifications
  • Must be a Christian who is a member of a church that holds Jesus Christ to be their Savior and Lord, and who holds solely the Old Testament and the New Testament as sacred Scriptures.
