The team

Content is the foundation of everything we build at Scribd, Inc. Our UGC corpus—more than 400 million user-uploaded documents, distinct from the rights-protected premium catalogs behind Everand and Fable—powers the consumer experience on Scribd and Slideshare and differentiates our search and discovery.

The Content pillar is the team responsible for that asset. It spans three connected areas—trust & safety (protecting the corpus), understanding (knowing it), and supply (growing it)—each with dedicated product and engineering leadership, embedded analysts, and applied ML capability.

We have high standards, give real feedback, and always bias toward action. Everyone owns their work end-to-end. There's high trust, low hand-holding, and a genuine expectation that you'll push the people around you toward sharper thinking and better outcomes.

We celebrate wins, learn from our losses, and laugh through both.

The role

We're hiring a Director of Content Intelligence & Supply to own knowing our UGC corpus and growing it as an asset. This is a new role, and it comes at a moment when content has become central to our strategy: the UGC corpus powers our consumer products and feeds search and discovery.

You'll bring content intelligence and content supply under one point of leadership—connecting what we know about the corpus (classification, metadata, quality, gaps) with the decisions about how we grow it. Today those efforts run in different parts of the org; your job is to run them as one portfolio with one roadmap. We build products that turn information into understanding, grounded in trusted human-created sources—and we own the data structure and intelligence that make a corpus this large useful.

This role reports to the Chief Product Officer. You'll inherit an established team—a content understanding program with its own charter and dedicated engineering squad, and a UGC supply squad that owns the end-to-end contributor experience—with room to shape the org's direction, structure, and future growth.

We're looking for a product leader with real data fluency: probably not a traditional consumer product manager, but someone with a foot in the data science world—as comfortable interrogating a classification model as running a product review—who gets excited about turning a 400-million-document UGC corpus into a strategic asset.

Know the corpus

  • Own the content understanding roadmap: classification, enrichment, metadata, and quality across the UGC corpus.

  • Drive corpus gap analysis: where the corpus is deep, where it's thin, and how user-generated and partner content behave differently.

  • Make the corpus legible—to our own products (search, discovery, recommendations) and to the teams and systems that build on it.

  • Set direction for classification and corpus-analysis work with credibility, in close partnership with applied ML, engineering, and data science teams.

Grow the supply

  • Own UGC supply end to end: uploads, conversions, and the supply-side user experience. The people who add content to our platforms are your customer.

  • Unify content acquisition strategy: set priorities across user-generated supply, partnerships, and other related programs that today run independently—coordinating the strategy while execution stays with the teams closest to it.

  • Connect supply to demand: partner with the consumer product orgs so the corpus grows where it creates the most value for readers, learners, and subscribers.

Build the knowledge infrastructure for AI

  • Own the AI product foundation of our UGC corpus: segmentation, sampling, corpus description, and the metadata and retrieval capabilities. The scope is the UGC corpus only: content in our premium catalogs is not part of it.

  • Partner with business development on evolving corpus intelligence needs.

Lead and develop the team

  • Lead senior product leaders and an established program with its own charter, engineering squads, and embedded analysts.

  • Step into a team with strong people already in seat: earn trust quickly, raise the bar, and multiply the leaders around you.

  • Operate as a peer among directors and VPs: represent content strategy in executive conversations with clarity and confidence, and connect corpus decisions to business outcomes.

The essentials

  • 10+ years of product management experience, including 4+ years leading product teams or senior PMs.

  • Depth in data-heavy product domains: ML/AI-powered products, search, recommendations, content platforms, or marketplaces.

  • Genuine data fluency—you can credibly direct classification and corpus-analysis work and partner with applied ML and data science teams as an equal, even if you don't build the models yourself.

  • Familiarity with common data structures around the use of content for AI training.

  • Experience with supply-side or two-sided product dynamics: creators, contributors, sellers, or content acquisition.

  • A strategic operator who connects content decisions to business outcomes—licensing revenue, product quality, growth—and can hold a portfolio-level roadmap.

  • Strong communication and cross-functional leadership: comfortable operating with executives and setting priorities across teams you don't manage.

  • Experience with content licensing or B2B data products is a plus.

The application

  • Resume.

  • Optional: anything that shows how you think about content, data, or supply—writing, a talk, or a product/strategy artifact you're proud of.
