Execution Specialist (Buyside Trader) – Carlson Capital

As an Execution Specialist at Carlson Capital, you will play a pivotal role in the trading process, ensuring efficient and effective execution of orders in the large-cap equity market, particularly in pairs trading. Working closely with Sector Specialist, you will be responsible for monitoring and communicating market conditions and optimizing trade execution to maximize performance.

Key responsibilities include managing trade flows, negotiating with counterparties, and maintaining a keen awareness of liquidity and market dynamics. You will utilize advanced trading platforms and analytics to ensure best execution, while adhering to internal risk controls and regulatory requirements. Strong communication skills, attention to detail, discipline, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute large-cap equity pair trade orders with counter parties while efficiently and profitably hedging risk.
  • Trade other instruments as directed by the CIO, these could include baskets, SWAPs, Forex, options or bonds.
  • Monitor market activity and provide real-time feedback on trading conditions.
  • Collaborate with Sector Specialist and the Alpha Capture team to implement trading strategies and optimize outcomes.
  • Maintain relationships with brokers and counterparties to secure competitive pricing and liquidity.
  • Ensure compliance with firm policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare and review trade reports, reconciliations, and documentation as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in institutional trading, preferably on the buy side
  • Proficiency with trading platforms and market analytics tools such as Bloomberg, Eze, Geneva
  • Strong understanding of financial markets and instruments
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
