JOB SUMMARY
The Clinical Trial Finance Manager provides leadership for financial operations supporting clinical research within Sponsored Programs Administration. This role oversees the financial lifecycle of clinical trials, including billing oversight, revenue cycle monitoring, and study closeout. The position requires strong financial and analytical expertise to ensure effective internal controls, operational efficiency, and accurate financial reporting. The manager leads a team responsible for analyzing and translating financial and operational data into meaningful insights that support informed decision-making. Working closely with clinical research finance teams, the role ensures billings tied to protocol requirements and participant encounters is accurate and timely. Through analytics, standardized reporting, and automation, the position strengthens financial stewardship, improves operational efficiency, and supports scalable, well-controlled financial processes for clinical research.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree In finance, accounting, or related field 
    May consider additional years of experience in lieu of degree. 
     
  • Experience
    6 years experience in finance with demonstration in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis, plus analytical ability to understand complex financial activities of Health System 
     

Preferred

  • Education
    Master's Degree in Business 
     
  • Experience
    Healthcare experience preferred with Master's Degree 
     


JOB DUTIES

  • Provides financial support for all areas of UT Southwestern.
  • Develops multi-year cash flow projections.
  • Identifies areas of financial risk, present findings, and makes recommendations to management.
  • Develops annual forecast of capital needs and manages allocation of funds.
  • Plans, leads, coordinates, and manages budgeting and forecasting activities. Evaluates, prioritizes, assigns and implements capital projects.
  • Manages, directs and plans evaluation of company's financial performance. Develops and recommends actions to achieve company financial objectives.
  • Provides strategic consultation and guidance to management on financial issues, evaluates business proposals and creates recommendations for optimizing financial impact on business initiatives.
  • Manages financial analyst staff.
  • Completes complex projects as requested.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
