BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Â
Faculty members are expected to be loyal to Dallas Baptist University and professional in the discharge of their duties. Although not all encompassing, the following designates basic responsibilities, which the faculty members should perform:

- Dallas Baptist University is a teaching university. DBU places the highest priority on excellence in teaching in the classroom, which is reflected and modeled in thorough scholarship, expertise in the discipline, and a variety of methods of instruction.
- The full-time faculty position in the Spanish Department will include the preparation and teaching of all levels of Spanish courses(in-class, hybrid, and online).
- Faculty members will usually teach 4 courses a semester for the Fall and Spring and 2 in the Summer/Winter for a total of 10 courses in an academic year(or 30 hours). Faculty members will maintain at least ten (10) office hours each week in addition to being generally available for students and administrative duties.
- Every faculty member should see their role as a ministry to the student, challenging and encouraging them in their Christian walk. As such, the integration of faith and learning should be central in teaching, and each class period should serve to promote spiritual growth through prayer and/or Bible devotion. Faculty members will also engage in advising and mentoring students.

BASIC DUTIES:Â
Â
- Faculty members are to work with their deans and their department chairs in all matters related to their teaching assignments, and other duties. This will include the creation and posting of syllabi, attendance at faculty council meetings and commencement services, participate in professional development activities, and follow all university policies.
- Faculty will follow stated procedures and meet identified deadlines when carrying out requested reporting responsibilities such as grade reporting, Annual Reports, periodic student progress reports, attendance verification, accreditation reports, and other reports as designated by the President and Provost.

This is a full-time faculty position.Â

WORK LOCATION:Â
This position will work on the main campus, located at 3000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX 75211.

MISSIONAL REQUIREMENTS:Â
- Must be a Christian who holds Jesus Christ to be their Lord and Savior, and who holds that the Old Testament and the New Testament solely are sacred Scriptures.
- Must be an active member of a local Baptist Church that holds to beliefs consistent with the statement above.

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:
- Graduate Degree; Prefer the candidate holds the terminal degree, usually the earned doctorate, in the teaching discipline or a related discipline, or working toward completion of a terminal degree.
