About the Role:  
The Material Planning Manager is responsible for leading the strategic planning, forecasting, and optimization of aircraft materials across the JSX network. This role partners closely with Tech Ops, Finance, Materials Management, and Supply Chain teams to ensure inventory is optimized, capital is deployed effectively, and aircraft parts are available to support both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance. Through data-driven analysis and cross-functional collaboration, you'll help keep our operation running safely, efficiently, and ready for continued growth. 

 

A Day in the Life: 

Your day as a Material Planning Analyst will be fast-paced, analytical, and deeply collaborative—focused on ensuring every aircraft has the right parts, at the right time, in the right place. Typical responsibilities include: 

  • Inventory Optimization: Build and maintain mathematical models to optimize inventory levels and efficiently allocate capital.You’ll evaluate the inventory balance sheet and spending, and work closely with purchasing and component repair partners to determine repair strategies, replenishment needs, and backfill procurement. 

  • Supporting Maintenance & MRO Operations: Partner with Maintenance Planning and MRO facilities to coordinate parts staging, forecast demand, and allocate high-usage materials for upcoming maintenance events. 

  • Fleetwide Material Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive material plans for the fleet, determining appropriate inventory levels and establishing minimum/maximum (min/max) stocking for each base and distribution center. 

  • Proactive Material Requests: Issue purchase requests, repair order expedites, and stock transfer requests to the Materials and Supply Chain/Logistics teams to support both scheduled and unscheduled material requirements. 

  • KPI Development & Reporting: Create, track, and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Materials Management, while completing additional ad-hoc analysis and reporting as needed. 

  • Inventory Lifecycle & Consignment Management: Work with procurement to manage consignment inventory and collaborate with Supply Chain and Logistics stakeholders on material movement and storage. You’ll also identify slow-moving, redundant, or obsolete inventory for disposal or resale opportunities. 

  • Technical Coordination: Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Materials Management to research alternates, validate part effectivity, and update internal systems to ensure accuracy and optimized stocking. 

  • Contract & Program Oversight: Monitor and evaluate agreements related to pooling, exchanges, and leased inventory to ensure cost-effective and reliable material availability. 

  • Additional Support: Assist with other duties as assigned to keep operations running smoothly. 

  • Materials & Fleet Planning: Coordinate with Materials partners to advance strategic initiatives and create comprehensive long-term plans that ensure material availability and support projected fleet growth.

Required Experience: 

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain, or a related quantitative field. 

  • 1–3 years of experience in material planning, inventory planning, operations planning, or a related field. 

  • 1–3 years of analytical experience using data to support operational decision-making. 

  • 1–3 years of demonstrated leadership experience. 

 

Preferred Experience: 

  • Master’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Logistics, or related quantitative field 

  • 3+ demonstrated leadership experience 

  • 3+ years of experience in inventory modeling 

  • 3+ years of Material, Inventory, or related planning experience 

  • 3+ years related analysis experience 

  • Prior Experience in air carrier operations, supply chain, or analytics. 

  • Proficiency in SQL, knowledge/basic experience of data processing/manipulation languages 

  • Experience with data visualization in Power BI and/or similar tools 

 

Skills, Licenses, & Certifications: 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and familiarity with Microsoft Suite of Products 

  • Excellent time management, prioritization, communication, and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to work independently and in teams to arrive at data driven solutions 

  • Effective leadership and interpersonal skills, and ability to work in teams 

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skillset 

  • Ability to meet deadlines, and comfortable with a dynamic and fast paced work environment 

  • Strength in organization and project management, with good attention to detail
