Employer: Analog Devices, Inc.

Job Title: Principal Engineer, Mixed Signal Design Engineering

Job Requisition: 1010.629 / R264847

Job Location: Dallas, Texas

Job Type: Full Time

Rate of Pay: $185,125 - $250,920 per year

Duties:

  • Full ownership of complex analog and mixed-signal circuit blocks used in automotive high-speed Serializer/Deserializer (SerDes) products throughout the entire product development cycle, from concept and feasibility through mass production.
  • Transistor-level design, simulation, and verification of high-performance SerDes circuits, including advanced receiver equalizers (CTLE/FFE/DFE), CDR loops, high-speed current-mode drivers, pre-emphasis/de-emphasis stages, termination networks, clock-generation circuits (VCOs, PLLs, phase interpolators, clock dividers), L/C tank oscillators, charge pumps, bandgap/bias circuits, and clock management units.
  • Architecture definition and specification development for individual blocks and system-level signal chains involving NRZ, PAM-4, and PAM-8 modulation schemes.
  • Supervision and guidance of physical design, including layout reviews, parasitic-aware optimization, EM-extraction workflows, and full post-layout verification in high-frequency environments.
  • Silicon validation, characterization, and debug of mixed-signal SoCs, including bench evaluation, automated measurement scripts, correlation to simulations, and root-cause analysis of performance deviations.
  • Cross-functional collaboration with digital design, verification, systems, packaging, PCB, test engineering, and manufacturing teams to define requirements, ensure robust design margins, and support production test development.
  • Participation in design reviews, documentation creation, specification updates, and support for quality, reliability, and failure-analysis teams to address customer return issues.
  • Evaluation of advanced packaging and interconnect parasitics, including t-coil tuning, on-package passive structures, and high-speed channel modeling.

Requirements: Must have a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or closely related technical discipline (willing to accept foreign education equivalent) and five (5) years of experience in the proffered role or related occupation performing analog and mixed-signal IC design in engineering or a related role focused on analog and mixed-signal IC design.

Must also possess the following (quantitative experience requirements not applicable to this section):

  • Demonstrated Experience in high-speed analog and mixed circuit design and simulation, including SerDes-related circuits, such as equalizers, CDR circuits, transmitters, clock generation circuits (VCO, PLL, phase interpolator, or dividers).
  • DE designing integrated circuits in CMOS process technologies, with understanding of device behavior, layout considerations, and reliability impacts.
  • DE in transistor-level circuit analysis, including small-signal and large-signal analysis, noise, linearity, jitter, metastability, and high-frequency effects.
  • DE in post-silicon debug and characterization of mixed-signal integrated circuits using laboratory measurement equipment and automated test setups.
  • DE working with package, board, and layout parasitics and their impact on high-speed signal integrity, including electromagnetic simulation of passive structures.
  • DE in Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)-aware high-speed circuit design, including consideration of industry ESD standards, device-level modeling, and transient simulation.
