Principal Wireless IC System Architect

ADI’s Digital Business Unit is seeking an RF system architect to join the R&D team and enable the next generation of intelligent RF/wireless communication products. 

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

- Perform RF system-level design and development to optimize intelligent integrated RF/wireless communication system-on-chip (SOC)

- Define RF and Digital systems for the Radio IP used in industrial, healthcare, and IoT markets.

- RF System definition, analysis, optimization, and debugging.

- Algorithm development for intelligent and cognitive radio, including optimizing PHY layer control of the RF and baseband with the goal of product certification and market introduction 

- Involve key customer communication for technical support and problem-solving.

- Participate and follow up with the major Wireless standards definition.

As a staff RF system designer, you will lead the development of RF/wireless design for ADI’s medical, energy, and embedded security ICs. You will have the opportunity to be involved in all the significant phases of RF SOC product development cycles, including product definition, RF system design, RF circuit design, and RF software implementation.  A successful candidate must have a good understanding of communication theories, DSP concepts, and wireless transceiver design. Candidate must have experience in modern wireless system architecture design, system/behavior level modeling, and simulation for trade-off analysis and performance evaluation. This position will also collaborate with the business team in supporting customers on critical issues and winning new customers.

Job Requirements

Minimum Qualifications:

- MSEE degree with 10+ years or Ph.D. degree with 7+ years of industry experience in Wireless PHY design and modeling (Wireless Communication Network).

- 10+ years of system-level experience on wireless transceiver functional blocks such as DPD, AGC, and CFO in wireless system design.

- Must have strong background in DSP and Communication Theory.

- Deep understanding of wireless system, features, performance and their trade-off.

- Solid understanding of CMOS RF transceiver architectures for modern communication systems.

- Solid programming experience with Matlab/C/Python for behavioral modeling and system level simulation.

- Strong knowledge of RF/analog circuit simulation tools and testing techniques.

- Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Design experience in WiFi/Bluetooth/Cellar systems is strongly preferred.

- Strong knowledge of Wireless PHY and MAC/Link Layer Protocol (Ex.: Cellar, Wireless LAN, Bluetooth, etc.)

- Hands-on experience with RF test equipment (e.g., spectrum analyzers and network analyzers, load pull, etc.).
