Job Description Â
Thompson Pipe Group is looking for driven individuals who will use their experience, as a Welding Production Supervisor, to Organize, coordinate, and supervise employees and activities within the fabrication department to ensure an effective and efficient fabrication operation that meets safety, quality, and production standards.  Â
Reports to Plant Superintendent. Â

 Essential Functions Â
- Assigns work to department personnel to attain department objectives using knowledge of production processes, company policies, production schedules, work orders, equipment capacity and employee capabilities.Â
- Read and understand project drawings and specifications.Â
- Ensure proper project pieces are produced according to customer and or company specification.Â
- Ensure 100% product document traceability is kept up to date.Â
- Readily perceives and effectively responds to schedules and product flows essential to supervising highly productive, cost-effective, quality-oriented manufacturing operations.Â
- Establishes and controls procedures to meet production schedulesÂ
- Recommends and initiates improvements to production processes, to increase manufacturing efficiency.Â
- Establish and control procedures to ensure production of conforming fabricated assembly components.Â
- Monitors and controls established procedures to ensure compliance with quality standards.Â
- Establishes and monitors cost control systems to achieve department budget objectives.Â
- Responsible for compliance with safety and housekeeping requirementsÂ
- Facilitates and promotes company policy and the company Quality Improvement program within all department work groups.Â
- Provides training, support, direction, and guidance to department personnel to continually develop their work habits, job skills and safety practices.Â
- Evaluates employee performance and accountability.Â
- Provides objective feedback for continued employee growth.Â
- Recommends and/or administers personnel actions in accordance with company policies and procedures.Â
- Set department goals and develop outline for achievement.Â
- May be exposed to excessive noise, welding gases and fumes, and varying weather conditions.Â
- To work overtime as required based on company needs.Â
- Performs other duties as assigned.Â

Supervisory Responsibility Â
This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department. Â
Work Environment Â
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.Â
- The noise level in the work environment can be loud.Â

- The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.Â

**Required Education and Experience**Â Â
- Bachelor's degree in related field or five years production supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, desiredÂ
- Industry experience a plus.Â
- Computer literate with experience using IFS and Microsoft Office (Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)Â
- Ability to learn and understand software and complete transactions pertaining to fabrication or welding operations, excellent verbal, and written communication skillsÂ
- Demonstrates ability to supervise diverse work groups in a team environment using effective listening, coaching, training, investigative and problem-solving skills, ability to exercise initiative, sound judgment and effective time management in a fast-paced environment with limited supervisionÂ
- Read and interpret weld process according to AWS and ASMEÂ
- Ability to understand and apply workplace safety proceduresÂ
- Practical knowledge of manufacturing processes and equipment requiredÂ
- Proficient in FCAW, Sub-Arc Welding, Arc Gouging, plasma cutters, Oxyfuel cutting and other similar equipment.Â
- CWI or CWS certification is a plus.Â
- NDT Experience is a plus.Â
- Experience in Hydraulics, mechanical and electrical.Â
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a comparable heavy manufacturing environmentÂ
- Knowledge of OSHA and demonstrated record of safety-focused leadership.Â
- Knowledge and experience with Lean principals and 5S process improvement.Â
