Key Responsibilities

The strategic account owner serves as the primary business interface between Applied Materials and the customer, driving service growth, strengthening executive relationships, and delivering measurable business value through Applied's service portfolio.

The ideal candidate combines commercial acumen, semiconductor industry knowledge, and consultative problem-solving skills to help customers achieve their strategic and operational objectives while driving long-term growth of Applied Materials' service business.

  • Develop and execute account growth strategies that expand Applied Materials' service business and strengthen long-term customer partnerships.

  • Identify, qualify, and drive opportunities for service agreements, renewals, upgrades, and value-based service solutions.

  • Build trusted relationships with customer executives, operations leaders, engineering organizations, procurement teams, and manufacturing stakeholders.

  • Understand customer business objectives and manufacturing challenges, translating them into solutions that improve operational performance, productivity, cost effectiveness, and business outcomes.

  • Lead commercial discussions, proposal development, contract negotiations, and opportunity closure activities.

  • Maintain accurate opportunity forecasting, account plans, customer engagement documentation, and action plans to support business objectives.

  • Lead cross-functional teams across sales, field service, engineering, operations, and product organizations to develop and deliver customer-focused solutions.

  • Develop and communicate compelling value propositions and business cases that clearly articulate customer return on investment and value realization.

  • Conduct executive business reviews, account planning sessions, and strategic customer engagements to identify growth opportunities and strengthen customer relationships.

  • Represent customer priorities and requirements within Applied Materials while effectively communicating Applied Materials' capabilities, roadmaps, and service offerings to customer stakeholders.

Functional Knowledge

Demonstrates broad business, commercial, and technical expertise within the semiconductor industry and Applied Materials' service portfolio. Applies deep knowledge of customer operations, manufacturing environments, and service strategies to drive business growth and customer success.

Business Expertise

Understands customer business drivers, industry trends, and competitive dynamics. Uses this knowledge to identify opportunities, address complex business challenges, and recommend solutions that deliver measurable customer and business value.

Leadership

Leads cross-functional teams and influences stakeholders across multiple organizations without direct authority. Builds alignment and drives execution to achieve customer and business objectives.

Problem Solving

Addresses complex customer and business challenges through strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and collaborative problem solving. Develops innovative solutions that balance customer needs with business priorities.

Impact

Directly contributes to service revenue growth, customer retention, customer satisfaction, strategic account development, and long-term business performance.

Interpersonal Skills

Builds credibility with technical experts, operational leaders, and executive decision-makers. Communicates complex concepts effectively and influences outcomes through strong relationship management, negotiation, and executive presence.

The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members. In addition to a comprehensive benefits package, candidates may be eligible for other forms of compensation such as participation in a bonus and a stock award program, as applicable.

For all sales roles, the posted salary range is the Target Total Cash (TTC) range for the role, which is the sum of base salary and target bonus amount at 100% goal achievement.
