The Accounting Senior Professional is responsible for leading complex accounting processes, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and providing financial analysis to support business decisions. This role involves reviewing and reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and guiding less-experienced team members on technical accounting matters. The position requires strong analytical capabilities, deep knowledge of accounting principles, and the ability to handle assignments with high autonomy and judgment.

Job Description - Senior Financial Analyst I

The Senior Financial Analyst I is responsible for supporting complex accounting processes, ensuring compliance with applicable standards, and providing financial analysis to support business decisions. This role involves reviewing and reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, strengthening financial processes and controls, and supporting less experienced team members on technical accounting matters. The Senior Financial Analyst I applies strong accounting knowledge, analytical capabilities, and sound judgment to manage assignments with autonomy, investigate complex issues, and recommend practical solutions that improve accuracy, efficiency, and business outcomes.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead accounting workstreams and projects that support accurate financial reporting, efficient close processes, strong reconciliations, and effective internal controls.
• Prepare, review, and analyze accounting results, financial statements, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with applicable accounting standards and company policies.
• Evaluate complex or evolving accounting, reporting, system, and control-related issues; identify root causes; and recommend solutions that address current needs while considering future impact and scalability.
• Design, improve, and document accounting procedures, controls, and workflows to increase consistency, reduce risk, improve efficiency, and enhance audit readiness.
• Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Operations, Technology, external auditors, vendors, and other stakeholders to coordinate deliverables, resolve issues, and move priorities forward.
• Translate accounting findings, risks, and recommendations into clear, actionable updates for business partners, auditors, and senior leaders.
• Provide technical guidance, coaching, and support to team members to help strengthen accounting knowledge, process discipline, and overall team capability.
• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including complex reconciliations, variance analysis, issue resolution, and preparation of high-quality support.
• Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes, enhance controls, and improve the quality of financial outcomes.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
• 5 to 7 years of progressive accounting experience preferred, with demonstrated ownership of complex accounting activities, reconciliations, controls, reporting, or process improvement initiatives.
• Experience leading projects or workstreams, coordinating cross-functional deliverables, and driving work through completion.
• Ability to analyze complex problems, recommend practical solutions, and communicate effectively with stakeholders at varying levels, including leadership.
• Experience in corporate accounting, public accounting, insurance, financial services, or another regulated environment preferred.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with financial systems, reporting tools, or ERP platforms.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification, or active progress toward CPA certification, is preferred.
• Chartered Accountant (CA) certification or equivalent credential is an advantage but not required.

FUNCTIONAL SKILLS

• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including financial reporting, close processes, reconciliations, internal controls, and GAAP application.
• Ability to work through complex or evolving challenges and develop thoughtful recommendations that balance accuracy, risk, efficiency, and long-term impact.
• Continuous improvement mindset with the ability to create, refine, and implement procedures that strengthen processes and outcomes.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to connect accounting activity to broader business impacts.
• Proven ability to lead workstreams, manage competing priorities, and coordinate across teams to deliver high-quality results.
• Clear and confident communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a practical and compelling way to business partners, auditors, vendors, and senior leaders.
• Ability to build strong relationships, influence stakeholders, and navigate competing priorities with professionalism and sound judgment.
• Commitment to developing others through coaching, knowledge sharing, and technical guidance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, financial systems, ERP tools, and reporting platforms.

The annual base salary for this position is $75,000.00 - $95,000.00.
