Job Title: Yard Attendant/Assistant

Reports To: Terminal Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and dependable individual to join our team as an overnight Yard Operator/Assistant for our company. The primary responsibility of this role is to efficiently manage and maintain our yard, ensuring that vehicles are organized, safe, and ready for towing operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment. We offer competitve pay based on experience. 

Job Responsibilities:

• Organize and maintain the yard to maximize space and efficiency.
• Receive incoming towed vehicles and accurately document their arrival.
• Perform basic inspections of vehicles for damage and report findings to management.
• Assist with the preparation of vehicles for towing, including securing and hooking up vehicles safely.
• Ensure that all safety protocols and procedures are always followed.
• Keep the yard clean and free of debris, including snow and ice removal during inclement weather.
• Assist drivers and other team members as needed with loading, unloading, and securing vehicles.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle inventory and movements within the yard.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, drivers, and other team members to coordinate yard activities.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks on yard equipment and vehicles as needed.

Required Skills:

• Previous experience in a similar role, preferably in the towing or automotive industry. But not required.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Basic mechanical knowledge and the ability to perform minor vehicle inspections and maintenance.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed.
• Pass a background check.
• Pass a drug test.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, kneel and bend as needed.
• Estimated percentages for each type of activity: Standing 10%, Walking 10%, Sitting 50%, Bending 15%, Kneeling 15%.
• May require sitting for prolonged periods.
• May require walking on unlevel surfaces periodically throughout the day.
• Reaching above shoulder heights, below the waist or lifting as required throughout the workday.
• Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds at times.

Work Environment:

Duties are performed primarily in various outdoor climates ranging from extreme heat to freezing temperatures, as well as wet and/or dry conditions. A uniform including safety vest and company shirt are required to be always worn.
