Key Responsibilities
Asynchronous Instruction:Â Facilitate undergraduate chemistry courses within the Canvas LMS, ensuring students meet learning objectives through active engagement and substantive feedback.
Virtual Lab Oversight:Â Guide students through the use of virtual laboratory simulations (e.g., Labster, CloudSci) and home-based lab kits, prioritizing safety and scientific inquiry.
Academic Mentorship:Â Actively monitor student progress, providing personalized intervention for students struggling with complex quantitative or conceptual hurdles.
Faith Integration:Â Incorporate a Christian worldview into the study of the natural world, fostering an environment where faith and science are seen as complementary.
Required Qualifications (Strictly Enforced)
Educational Background: A Master’s degree or higher in Chemistry from a regionally accredited institution.
Note: To comply with specific accrediting agency standards, the conferred degree must be in Chemistry(Organic, Inorganic, Analytical, Physical, or Biochemistry). Degrees in Chemistry Education (M.Ed. or Ed.D.) will not be accepted for this role.
Teaching Experience: Proven track record of successful instruction in both traditional (brick-and-mortar) and remote/online higher education settings.
Mission Alignment: * Applicants must be a professing Christian who is active in their local church and community.
A commitment to the mission and values of Abilene Christian University is required.
Preferred Skills
Experience facilitating "General Chemistry" or "Introductory Chemistry" for non-science majors in an accelerated format.
Familiarity with digital chemistry tools (e.g., ChemDraw, virtual lab platforms) and their integration into an LMS.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide encouraging yet rigorous feedback via video or audio.
