Job Summary

Seasoned and strategic Senior Legal Counsel to lead our commercial legal function and provide expert guidance on privacy, AI, and product counseling. This role is ideal for an attorney with 10+ years of experience across law firm and in-house settings, particularly within publicly traded companies in the healthcare technology or staffing sector. The successful candidate will bring deep expertise in the U.S. privacy laws, including all comprehensive state privacy laws like CCPA/CPRA, HIPAA, and a strong understanding of AI governance and emerging regulations, data protection, and employment-related sensitive data processing.

Job Responsibilities

Commercial Leadership

  • Lead and manage the commercial legal team, overseeing strategic contract negotiations, vendor agreements, partnerships, and licensing, ensuring alignment with business goals and risk tolerance.
  • Develop and implement scalable legal processes to support rapid growth and
  • innovation.

AI, Privacy, and Product Counseling

  • Advise cross-functional teams on AI use cases, including risk assessments, governance frameworks, and compliance with emerging regulations.
  • Counsel product teams on privacy-by-design principles, AI regulatory compliance, and data lifecycle management.
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, TCPA and state-specific privacy laws, including maintaining internal policies on privacy, data governance and protection, AI development and deployment, and HIPAA.

Strategic Risk Management

  • Partner with executive leadership to assess legal risks and opportunities in new markets, technologies, and business models, promoting a “smart-risk" mindset, balancing innovation with regulatory compliance and reputational protection.

Team Leadership & Collaboration

  • Manage and mentor a team of attorneys and legal professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, agility, and collaboration.
  • Work closely with IT, Compliance, HR, and business teams to educate and ensure risk-calibrated alignment across departments and business divisions.
  • Represent the commercial, privacy, AI, and product legal function in C-Suite/board-level discussions and strategic planning.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Certifications: J.D.

Preferred Education/Certifications: CIPP/EU or CIPP/US or CIPP/AI

Minimum Experience: 10 years

Preferred Experience: 10+ years

  • Work is performed in an office/home office environment.
  • Team Members must have the ability to operate standard office equipment and keyboards.

Pay Rate

$205,500 - $244,500 Salary

Final pay rate is dependent on experience, training, education, and location.
