SUMMARY:

Under general supervision, the Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing design support to the organization.  This role provides support for design and implementation of new and improved product and process solutions. This position supports Motion's initiatives to improve profitability through improving Safety, Quality, Delivery, Productivity and Material Flow.

JOB DUTIES

  • Designs and implements equipment and tooling for production processes that will improve operational safety, quality, and efficiency.

  • Oversees generation and maintenance of CAD drawings for tooling and equipment design.

  • Provides support for design and development of new belting products.

  • Creates and implements process standards and specifications, introducing appropriate manufacturing controls where possible to provide for consistent operations to these standards.

  • Utilizes Lean Manufacturing tools to help advance operational Continuous Improvement throughout the organization.

  • Defines best practice approaches and help establish these practices throughout Motion's fabrication facilities.

  • Discusses and solves complex problems with manufacturing departments, sub-contractors, suppliers, and customers.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline (preferably Mechanical Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering) and at least three (3) to five (5) years of applicable design experience. 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Must display a genuine respect and knowledge for workload and issues facing manufacturing operations and shop floor members.

  • Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • Works as a key member of cross functional teams & must display a can-do attitude that sets an example for others.

  • Strong mechanical and math skills and ability to formulate ideas and create design solutions for internal and external customer needs.

  • Must be able to develop realistic project timelines and work independently to accomplish results on time.

  • Project management skills to oversee a project through idea, design, manufacturing, and implementation stages.

  • Proficient use of CAD software. Competent use of Microsoft Office suite software.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to organize and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Some travel may be necessary to support project responsibilities.
