Position Title:            Packaging Production Lead

Reports to:                 Packaging Lead Supervisor / Packaging Manager

Responsibility:           Production Personnel/Production Equipment

 

Position Summary/Purpose:

This position involves the operation of machinery to fill cases to set levels as well as assuring that customer specifications are met on packaging and labels. Verify that the labels for a given order are accurate. The person in this position will also be responsible to assist Filler Operators in the accurate collection and recording of production information in company ERP system. This person will work on the line as needed to fill orders and cover employees for bathroom and water breaks. This position is responsible for the proper inspection and packing of orders to meet customer specifications.

 

Working Conditions:

Production environment with substantial time interacting with machinery and Forklift traffic. Requires the ability to stand, bend over, and climb stairs and or ladders to access platforms. Occasional lifting of 25 to 50 pounds may be necessary.

 

Essential Functions/Abilities:

  • Solid math skills.
  • Effective English language literacy; oral and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to document data accurately.
  • Proven skills or experience with personal computers. Understanding of PLC’s
  • Report any discrepancies on paperwork to Supervisors and Managers.
  • Follow company procedures to ensure that inventory information is accurately recorded in company data system.
  • Take the initiative to solve problems related to production and inventory information gathering or any other issues affecting production accuracy.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies.
  • Assist in all physical inventories.
  • Provide support to other positions as production questions and concerns arise.
  • Report all employee and production issues to Lead Supervisor and Managers.
  • Verify all customer information on Sale Order and assist Filler Operators to set up scales and filling machinery accordingly.
  • Set filling machine controls for proper weights and feed requirements.
  • Work with QA/QC on all quality issues pertaining to the product being run on the line.
  • Must be able to repetitively lift finished cases weighing up to 30 pounds and palletize them.
  • Follow company procedures to ensure that inventory information is accurately recorded at filling machine location, or at inspection locations as needed for accurate batch completion.
  • Take the initiative to inform supervisor of any issues related to product flow, record keeping or any problems affecting data accuracy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience operating production machinery.
  • Firm understanding of Inventory integrity requirements and material flow.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems.
  • Ability to perform tasks properly and promptly with little supervision be a self-starter.
  • Firm understanding of machinery operations and controls.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and reporting requirements.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish/English) skills.
  • Team player attitude with attention to detail.
  • A desire to understand how the work performed by this position impacts other positions in the company as well as the company as a whole.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience Forklift experience.
