The Role

T1 Energy is seeking an experienced IPQA Tech 2 to join our Module Quality Assurance team. Operating with a higher degree of independence on our advanced manufacturing floor, you will ensure that all in-process quality control measures are strictly adhered to across automated production lines. In addition to conducting routine line audits and identifying material defects, you will own daily laboratory sampling, manage tool and gauge calibrations, and utilize data analysis to track quality trends. This role also serves as a critical peer leader responsible for training and developing Level 1 quality technicians. The ideal candidate has strong numerical and analytical skills, hands-on experience with precision measurement tools, and thrives in a high-volume advanced manufacturing environment.

Who You Are

  • Inspection & Quality Audits: Perform routine, highly detailed quality inspections and process audits throughout the production line to assess and report on both product and process adherence to company quality systems and technical documentation.

  • Laboratory & Sample Testing: Prepare samples and execute a variety of daily laboratory tests (including tensile strength, material verification, and chemical testing) according to the plant sampling plan.

  • Team Development & Mentorship: Lead, train, and assist with the daily technical development of Level 1 IPQA technicians to ensure consistency across shifts.

  • Material Isolation & Non-Conformance: Take direct responsibility for isolating, labeling, and classifying non-conforming or defective materials from the active production line to prevent contamination of the supply chain.

  • Tool Calibration & Maintenance: Monitor, test, and maintain lab equipment and inspection gauges; ensure all tools are calibrated correctly according to the company’s strict compliance requirements.

  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Accurately record inspection and laboratory results, inputting data into quality databases using statistical methods to identify and surface quality trends to engineering leadership.

  • Blueprints & Metrology: Read and interpret technical blueprints, engineering specifications, and schematics while expertly utilizing precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED minimum required. Technical certifications or associate degree preferred.

  • Experience: 1–2+ years of previous QA/QC experience in quality auditing or precision testing within a manufacturing environment (previous experience in solar, semiconductor, or advanced electronics manufacturing is highly preferred).

  • Technical & Metrology Skills: Practical knowledge of inspection tools (calipers, micrometers) and the ability to seamlessly convert technical units of measurement.

  • Standards & Compliance: Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs). Prior knowledge of ISO 9001, IEC 62941, or formal quality auditing frameworks is preferred but not required.

  • Systems & Software: Proficient with general computer software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and dedicated manufacturing quality databases or ERP/MES platforms.

  • Core Attributes: Excellent numerical, communication, and statistical skills. A safety-first mindset dedicated to cultivating a secure and compliant culture on the floor.
