WORK HOURS: Full-time, Exempt 

HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT 

The Staff Accountant will report to the Controller and is responsible for accounting related to various monthly accruals, accrued expenses, daily cash, preparing various reconciliations monthly, preparation and/or review of variance analysis, preparing and recording journal entries, audit schedules, and special projects as needed. The Staff Accountant will work with other departments within the Company to ensure the books, records and reports are accurate and reported timely.

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

  • Prepare schedules and post general ledger journal entries related to their area of responsibility.

  • Responsible for preparing and posting daily cash entries.
  • Responsible for all aspects of Balance Sheet accounts assigned including preparation of journal entries, reconciliations, audit schedules, and overall follow up of old items or reviewer notes.
  • Account reconciliations are due by the 12th of the following month.
  • Prepare Bank reconciliations and propose journal entries.
  • Participate in the monthly close process of reviewing variance analysis & cost centers.
  • Help with requests from others and from auditors.
  • Work on special projects and requests as needed.
  • Some overtime may be required to meet deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS 

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities 

  • Proficient Microsoft Excel required including familiarity with various formulas
  • Demonstrate intermediate interpersonal skills, including listening, verbal, written, and presentation, with the ability to communicate effectively within various levels of the company.
  • Exhibit the ability to thrive in a creative, dynamic, fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Exhibit the ability to handle sensitive matters and information with tact, diplomacy, and confidentiality.
  • Attention to detail, ability to multitask, remain organized and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Incorporate customer-centric values and SPIRIT principles into the company's mission, vision, and core values.
  • Must be comfortable with conflict resolution.

Education/Experience 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 1+ Years in Public Accounting a plus but not required
  • Account and bank reconciliation experience required
  • Familiar with wholesale/retail industry and general ledger activities
  • CPA candidate or CPA a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

This job operates in a professional office environment.  Largely a sedentary role with some filing requiring the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bending as necessary. This role is expected to be fully in office.
