Job Title: Sommelier

Job Description: A prestigious restaurant group located in Midtown is seeking an experienced and knowledgeable Sommelier to oversee the wine program and enhance the guest dining experience. Restaurant experience is a MUST for this role.

Duties and Responsibilities (not all-inclusive):

  • Curate and manage an extensive wine list, including sourcing and selecting wines to complement the menu.
  • Provide expert recommendations to guests on wine pairings and selections.
  • Train and educate staff on wine offerings, service techniques, and food pairings.
  • Manage wine inventory, including ordering, stocking, and conducting regular inventory checks.
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of all wines to maintain quality.
  • Collaborate with the Beverage Manager and Chef to create wine pairing menus and special wine events.
  • Handle guest inquiries and complaints regarding wine service.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Sommelier, preferably in a high-end restaurant.
  • Certification from a recognized sommelier program (e.g., Court of Master Sommeliers) is highly preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of wine regions, varietals, and wine service standards.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Restaurant industry experience is required.
