JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced Senior Carpenter to perform skilled carpentry work involving construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of building structures and systems in a commercial or institutional setting. 

We are looking for someone with a minimum of five years as a Journeyman Carpenter experience, active journeyman license, and proficiency with power tools, blueprint interpretation, and fabrication of custom wood and metal components. 

As Senior Carpenter, you may serve as a lead in the absence of a supervisor and must be able to safely perform physically demanding tasks; works under minimal supervision to provide advanced journeyman level skills in performance of carpentry work.

Work Location: Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.

Shift Requirement: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM; occasional overtime as required by leadership.



EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    High School Diploma or GED, or vocational school. 
     
  • Experience
    5 years skilled or journeyman level experience as a carpenter in a commercial, institution or healthcare setting, knowledge of door hardware, proficiency in the use of large power tools (ex: table saw, circular saw, router, miter saw, etc.).

    Journeyman Carpenter License

JOB DUTIES

  • Performs carpentry work involved in areas of construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of building structures, components and systems.
  • Designs and builds tables, doors, shelves, bookcases and a wide variety of specialized fabrications.
  • Builds metal stud, sheet rock walls, install metal doorjambs, window frames, ceilings and various articles constructed of wood and/or metal.
  • Acts as a Lead to employees and addresses peers and directs work flow in the supervisor's absence.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
