JOB SUMMARY
UT Southwestern is actively seeking an experienced Senior Carpenter to perform skilled carpentry work involving construction, renovation, maintenance, and repair of building structures and systems in a commercial or institutional setting.

We are looking for someone with a minimum of five years as a Journeyman Carpenter experience, active journeyman license, and proficiency with power tools, blueprint interpretation, and fabrication of custom wood and metal components.

As Senior Carpenter, you may serve as a lead in the absence of a supervisor and must be able to safely perform physically demanding tasks; works under minimal supervision to provide advanced journeyman level skills in performance of carpentry work.

Work Location: Dallas Campus; assist other UTSW locations as needed.

Shift Requirement: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM; occasional overtime as required by leadership.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

Education
High School Diploma or GED, or vocational school.

Experience
5 years skilled or journeyman level experience as a carpenter in a commercial, institution or healthcare setting, knowledge of door hardware, proficiency in the use of large power tools (ex: table saw, circular saw, router, miter saw, etc.).

JOB DUTIES

Performs carpentry work involved in areas of construction, alteration, maintenance and repair of building structures, components and systems.
Designs and builds tables, doors, shelves, bookcases and a wide variety of specialized fabrications.
Builds metal stud, sheet rock walls, install metal doorjambs, window frames, ceilings and various articles constructed of wood and/or metal.
Acts as a Lead to employees and addresses peers and directs work flow in the supervisor's absence.
Performs other duties as assigned.
