Process Engineer

Position Overview

Shaw Industries is hiring a Process Engineer to support the Finishing Department at Plant 81 in Dalton, GA by coordinating the efforts to increase production and reduce quality and claims. 

 

Essential Duties: 

  •  Manage coater, Offline, Shipping, and compound departments 

  • Be sure Finishing runs first quality carpet and at top efficiency 

  • Work on projects and assignments as required by the Plant Manager and/or Corporate Management 

  • Work with sales and customers on quality problems 

  • Work with department heads of the individual department areas 

  • Attend quality audits 

  • Work with R&D department on new products 

  • Attend MTR reviews 

  • Monitor POVA data to ensure the department is operating effectively and efficiently  

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in an engineering field)

  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities 

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions 

  • Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardizing situations 

  • Willingness to work in normal industrial environment with inherent background noise, dirt, humidity, and temperature variations 

  • The employee works near moving mechanical parts and in precarious places
