Position Overview

The CAD Designer will apply standardized drawing conventions and practices to ensure the division’s continued success in achieving in-house customer satisfaction. This is accomplished through ensuring adherence to project scope, drawing quality, and conformance to the National CAD Standards (NCS). This position will create complex technical drawings for infrastructure, ensure drafting standard compliance, coordinate multidiscipline models, perform drawing quality checks, and manage drawing revisions for fabrication and construction, acting as a bridge between conceptual design and physical implementation. This role offers flexibility to be hybrid in office 2-3 days per week with occasional travel to other facilities as needed.

Essential Duties:

  • Produce detailed 2D technical drawings for various facility systems - Civil, Structural, Architectural, and Electrical

  • Familiarity with the International Building Code (IBC), American Disabilities Act (ADA), Life Safety, city, county or state codes and interpret GIS, FEMA, & GSWCC maps and manuals.

  • Coordinate review of architectural drawing sets. Conduct self-checks and coordinate review of drawings with project engineers and designers for constructability, functionality, and adherence to codes/standards.

  • Oversees Facilities Management Systems Software. Create and manage digital building plans (floor plans, layouts, assets) using software like AutoCAD, Revit (BIM), or dedicated CAFM/IWMS tools, focusing on space optimization, maintenance tracking, asset management, and overall building efficiency from design through operations, bridging technical design with operational needs.

  • Administer Autodesk Vault Professional. Take charge of our digital design ecosystem as the Vault administrator. You will manage engineering files, user roles, security permissions, and plant information—ensuring everything is organized, accessible, and secure.

  • Technical Leadership. Provide technical support and training to guide CAD Technicians, contribute to design standards, and ensure model integrity across disciplines (BIM coordination)

  • Works with the Director of Global Facilities, Project Management Support, Design Services, Corporate Facilities and Grounds Management at a production level to ensure the effective development of the desired architectural drawing – with particular focus to be placed Civil, Architectural, Mechanical, Roofing, and Paving projects.

Position Requirements:

  • 3+ years’ work experience using AutoCAD/ Revit, beyond formal education or training.

  • 5+ years’ experience working with Civil, Structural, Architectural or Mechanical engineers.

  • Ability to understand Civil, Structural, Architectural drawing sets.

  • Ability to research & synthesize city, county or state codes.

  • Ability to understand and interpret GIS, FEMA, & GSWCC maps and manuals Ability to understand how to organize and present a set of Construction Documents.

  • Do any design software troubleshooting necessary to keep drawing requests active and effective.

  • Must be able to drive up to 3 hours a day for site visits as needed.

  • Must be capable of managing multiple projects at a time.

  • Must be able to use a computer – specifically, well-versed and knowledgeable in Google and Microsoft Office products.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively.

  • AutoCAD/ Revit Certification preferred.

Working Conditions:

This is a hybrid role, with a preference for working in the office 2–3 days per week and occasional travel to other facilities as needed. Working independently with minimal supervision. Must observe all corporate and plant safety rules and procedures when traveling to various facilities.
