The Position
The Foster Lab in the Department of Discovery Oncology at Genentech is seeking a highly talented and motivated Scientist 4 to investigate induced proximity mechanisms for high-value targets.
The Foster Lab utilizes a variety of biochemical and cell biology techniques to explore targets in the expanding field of induced proximity. The candidate will be expected to work independently and collaboratively on pipeline projects and will be responsible for advancing exciting and novel research-stage programs. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in mechanistic biology, protein regulation, and cell death pathways, with the ability to translate fundamental biological insights into therapeutic hypotheses and robust experimental strategies. Excellent communication skills are required to facilitate the highly collaborative nature of these projects.
Who You Are:
PhD degree in cancer biology, cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
Documented record of scientific achievement demonstrated through high-quality, peer-reviewed publications.
Demonstrated ability to independently identify important biological questions, design and execute rigorous experiments, interpret complex experimental data, and use those findings to develop new mechanistic hypotheses.
Strong understanding of cell signaling and regulated cell-death pathways.
Strong background in mechanistic biochemistry and cell biology, with demonstrated ability to dissect complex signaling pathways and define molecular mechanisms of protein function and regulation with an interest in applying this expertise to induced proximity and emerging approaches for manipulating protein function.
Expertise in a wide range of molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology techniques, including the development and application of cell-based functional assays and biochemical approaches to interrogate protein activity and pathway biology.
Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly collaborative, multidisciplinary research environments.
Ability to independently drive research while contributing scientifically and experimentally across project teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with in vivo mouse models, large scale genetic screening, or computational approaches for analyzing and interpreting high-dimensional datasets is a plus.
The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $123,800to $230,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
