Birch Agency, a nationally recognized company in educational services, is looking for a dedicated part-time Orientation and Mobility Specialist to join our team in Daly City and Redwood City, CA! We have a passion for making a difference in the lives of children with special needs, and we are hiring like-minded professionals to be part of our team.

Details:

  • Start: ASAP

  • Caseload: 2-3 students

  • Age group: 9th-12th grade

  • Sites: 2

    • one in Redwood City

    • one in Daly City

  • Part-time (3ish hours per month)

  • Pay starting at $50/hr - dependent on experience

Responsibilities:

Services Provided by Orientation & Mobility Therapist:

  • Prepare students with visual impairments to travel independently and safely

  • Preform evaluations that focus on long and short-term needs of the student

  • Prepare meaningful instruction geared to students' assessed needs, IEP goals and objectives, functioning level, and motivation level

  • Prepare and use equipment and materials such as tactile maps, models, optical devices, pre-canes, GPS devices, and long canes

  • Provide orientation of new buildings and new class schedules as needed

  • Provide instruction/information on recreational leisure skills, outdoor travel skills, residential, and commercial public transportation

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree Teaching for the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation and Mobility

  • ACVERP COMS Certificate preferred for O&M Specialists
