Overview
Guaranteed salary. No sales. Fridays and Sundays off. Most personal training jobs pay you only when a client shows up, split your day into a 5am shift and an 8pm shift, and hand you a sales quota on top. This one doesn't.
Fitness Together Dana Point is hiring a full-time, salaried W-2 Personal Trainer for our afternoon shift. You'll earn a base salary of $50,000–$55,000/year (based on experience and certifications) plus individual and team bonuses, for a total target compensation of $55,000–$60,000/year — with health insurance, paid vacation, paid holidays, and company-paid certifications.
You coach. That's the whole job. We fill your schedule — no selling memberships, no cold calls, no marketing duties. And you're an employed team member, not an independent contractor: your paycheck is the same whether a client cancels or not.
The schedule
One continuous shift — no split days:
- Monday–Thursday: 12:30pm – 9:00pm
- Saturday: 6:45am – 3:00pm
- Off: Fridays and Sundays, every week
You must be available for this schedule to be considered.
How your day is structured
We've built the shift so you can coach at your best from the first session to the last:
- Start with 45 minutes of paid admin time to review programs and prep for your clients
- Train up to 5 back-to-back 45-minute sessions, then take a guaranteed 45-minute mid-shift break
- Coach a maximum of 8–9 sessions per day — never more
- Finish with 15 minutes of built-in closing time
- Any schedule gaps are paid programming and admin time — not unpaid downtime
Our studio stays consistently booked, so afternoon coaches average around 35 sessions per week with a full, predictable client roster.
What's in it for you
- Base salary: $50,000–$55,000/year (W-2, salaried — based on experience and certifications)
- Revenue share: A percentage of studio revenue goes back to the team — expect an additional $3,000–$4,000/year, and up to $6,000+/year based on performance
- Health insurance: 50% of your premium covered (up to $150/month)
- Paid vacation: 40 hours after your first 90 days
- Paid holidays: 6–8 per year
- CFSC certification paid for by us: Complete your Certified Functional Strength Coach certification online in your first 3 months, on our dime
- Paid continuing education: Summits, workshops, and up to $500/year in CEU reimbursement
- Team culture: Weekly team meetings, mentorship, and team outings we pick together — axe throwing, sports games, beach meetups
- Location: Our studio on Pacific Coast Highway is half a mile from the beach
- Referral program (refer a client and receive 10% of their first purchased package)Â
What you'll do
- Coach as a team: Our clients intentionally train with multiple coaches — a Tuesday/Thursday client might see you Tuesdays and a teammate Thursdays. It keeps training fresh for clients and means you're never carrying anyone's progress alone
- Program collaboratively: Build and progress personalized programs alongside your fellow coaches, with clear session notes and real communication so every client gets a seamless experience no matter who's coaching
- One-on-one coaching: Run private sessions in dedicated training suites with an emphasis on safety, progression, and motivation
- Client relationships: Create a welcoming, professional experience that keeps clients training with us for years
- Studio standards: Keep equipment and suites clean, safe, and session-ready
About us
We're a private, one-on-one personal training studio in Dana Point serving clients for over 20 years from San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Niguel, and Capistrano Beach. Every session is scheduled in advance, clients train with our whole coaching team rather than a single trainer, and the environment is fun, professional, and premium — no floor chaos, no waiting on equipment. The team model means your vacation days don't disrupt anyone's progress, and you're constantly picking up ideas from how your teammates coach the same clients.
What we're looking for
Required
- Nationally accredited personal training certification (NASM, ACSM, ISSA, NSCA, ACE, or equivalent)
- 1+ years of hands-on personal training and program design experience
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification — or the ability to obtain it before your start date
- Availability for the full afternoon schedule above
- Comfort working with clients of all ages, abilities, and fitness backgrounds
- A team-first mindset: our clients train with multiple coaches, so clear session notes, handoffs, and collaborative programming are part of the daily job
- Strong verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related field
- Working knowledge of injury prevention, functional training, and corrective exercise
If you're a strong coach who's missing one item on this list, apply anyway and tell us about it.
