Job purpose

Under the direction of the General Manager, the incumbent is responsible for providing strategic direction, guidance, support, and oversight to ensure the successful operation and continuous progress of the Security Department.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Exhibit conduct in accordance with all Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) Rules and Regulations, Federal and State laws and regulations, and Company and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Consistently deliver positive, courteous, and professional guest service in all interactions with guests, visitors, vendors, and fellow employees.
  • Create and administer policies, procedures, and standards that maintain compliance and elevate operational efficiencies.
  • Establish measures/metrics and audit adherence to guidelines and standards related to security and safety.
  • Ensure monitoring and safety systems for the property are working correctly and are being used appropriately by staff.
  • Ensure the purchase, maintenance and retention of tools, equipment, vehicles, and all assets are required for safe, effective, and efficient operations.
  • Ensure appropriate staffing levels and scheduling to best manage labor costs while maintaining outstanding guest service and safety.
  • Cultivate excellent relationships with regulatory agencies and local law enforcement to ensure the sharing of information as well as their awareness, trust, and support.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
  • Ensure essential training is conducted for Security.
  • Implement departmental and property procedures, train, schedule, supervise and evaluate Security Managers, Supervisors, and Officers.
  • Detain persons for probable cause for the purpose of notifying law enforcement.
  • Recruit, select, train, coach, counsel, recognize and retain direct reports who consistently perform actions and behaviors that reinforce excellence in business operations and guest service.
  • Stay abreast of current trends and practices within area of responsibility and communicate pertinent information to management, peers, direct reports, and employees as appropriate.
  • Promote positive public/employee relations at all times.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment within area of responsibility.
  • Safeguard the confidential information of all employees, department, and company records.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to ensuring responsible gaming and responsible alcohol service by discreetly notifying appropriate management of concerns and observations.
  • Ensure prompt and discrete notification to senior management and/or the Ethics Hotline of any observation of illegal acts and/or internal ethics violations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
  • Seven (7) or more years at Security Manager level or above in a high-volume casino/hotel environment is required.
  • Demonstrated success in leading a team of 50 or more security or law enforcement department members is required.
  • Must have strong skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Ability to obtain a gaming license.
  • Must have solid planning, time management, decision-making, organization, and interpersonal skills. 
  • The ability to thrive in a fast-paced multi-tasking, hands-on environment. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain a positive and professional working relationship with all individuals. 
  • Ability to work overtime, irregular hours and occasionally travel.
