WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT:

Works in clean, well-lit, ventilated and air conditioned office area, but visits to numerous hospital departments when necessary. Due to patient contact, the exposure to virus or contagious disease is possible but not highly probable. Often exposed to unpleasant odors, sights, and sounds. Long periods in a stationary position. Exposure to a high degree of interruption and stressful situations, time restraints and deadlines. Works a standard work week, but occasional overtime will be necessary. Must be able to move or position 25 lbs. independently.

 

CONTACTS WITH OTHERS:

Visitors (patients), healthcare providers, administrative Associates, hospital support Associates, and insurance companies.

 

EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:

Typewriter (type 50-60 words per minute). Computer skills with thorough knowledge of hardware, software programs, specialized printers, copier, transcribing equipment, and telephones and fax machines.

Qualifications

Three (3) years in a professional (medical) or business environment, with medical terminology use, or a graduate of a business or secretarial school, with medical terminology courses.
